The stage of the life cycle that Colgate toothpaste is in is more than likely the maturity stage. It may also soon be considered to be in the decline stage because of all the newer choices that are on the market.

Amazon and eBay are two stores that still sell Gleem toothpaste. It is an older brand of toothpaste that is not carried in most major stores like Walmart and Target.

Toothpaste is enriched with fluoride to help prevent tooth decay. Fluoride ions are anions, meaning they have a negative charge. (Take a look at where fluoride falls on the periodic table -- fluoride ions want to gain an electron to be more stable, thus they tend to form ions with a -1 charge.)

In my professional opinion, toothpaste is largely overrated. Most commercial toothpastes have fluoride, an ingredient shown to reduce tooth decay in children. Other than that, toothpaste is little more than mouth freshener. You can usually keep your mouth and teeth clean and healthy simply by brushing and flossing effectively (with or without toothpaste) every day and seeing your dental professional frequently. The key word is 'effectively'. In my experience, most people do not brush long enough (at least two minutes).
