How do you prepare for running an 800 in track?
while actually it all depends on what time you would like to run if your aiming for a 2:30 or something like that then the technique I use is go out hard the first 200 then ease up a bit let the pace settle den on the last lap pick it up but not too much you want to save some energy for the last 150/200 on the curve if your conditioned enough sprint out the whole 200 but if your'e not then accelerate into it and try to sprint out the last 100 meters.
If you are aiming for about 2:00 it is basically an all out sprint.
AnswerLast year as an 8th grader i ran a 2:13 and so when i raced the first 100m is close to a sprint to get out hard so others have to waste their energy to get around you. And for the next 400 meters just keep a pace that's not a sprint but fast enough to where your not losing the pack. I was usually behind the top 3. When you cross the 400 mark keep the pace and when you hit the 500 mark start to steadly build up your speed and once you hit the 600 mark from there its an all out sprint. Whoever has the heart and will power. The most important parts of the race are the beginning and end.
Pretty much you try to get out as fast as you can out the first 100, then all u have to do is camp out behind the person in first place and make sure that you don't lose them. Be smart let that person set the pace and in the last 200 hundred meter that's where you put all the hard work that was done in practice to use and try to outkick everyone. Make sure you don't lose your form.

You run a 100-yd dash in 9.8 seconds what is your speed in miles per hour?
About 25.5mph assuming my math is correct: 5280ft/330=16 16x9.68=2min35sec 60mph/2.6min=25.5mph
The above answer is incorrect. This would be true if it was a constant velocity, but because the runners are starting from a stop you need to factor in acceleration. But again we run into a problem because the acceleration is not constant so calculating the final velocity would be a bit tricky. A time of 9.68 the runner would probably be going close to 30mph.

What is the fastest seventh grade boys mile time?
that is not true my girlfriend,Robin Shumaker, who goes to school at pontotoc ms city school ran a 4:58 last night and her best is 4:42
Can't be true. Too fast for 7th grade. With a 4:42 in 7th grade, she's on track for the 2012 olympics. Jordan Hasay (current 12th grade phenom) only runs about a 4:32 mile, and she made the olympic trials finals last year.
Totally agree, 4:42 for 7th grade is physically impossible. World record is around 5:30.
My sister is Cory Mcgee and she is on a full ride at University of Florida and her time is around a 4:44 and she is only a freshman and i am in seventh grade and my mile time is around a 5:44 and improving. This is definatly not true so stop lieing to make yourself and friend feel good about yourself.

Who is the world's fastest runner in the 40-yard dash?
The reality is that there is no single "official" time in the 40-yard dash at a Combine.
That said, Bo Jackson has the best verifiable time at a Combine with his 4.12 clocking at the New Orleans Superdome in 1986.
I assume you are referring to the 40 yard dash as it applies to American Football. Currently, there is no official recognition of any 40 yard dash time. The 40 yard dash, as measured by the NFL combine, uses a method slightly different than standard track & field. In track and field, the runner reacts to the starting gun, where as the NFL combine allows the runners to start whenever they want, with the timers starting precisely when the runner does. This gives the combine method around a .15 second advantage. Also, combine participants are timed using 2 methods - by coaches with hand-held stopwatches and electronically.
With that said, the fastest 40 yard dash runners on the planet are most likely world-class sprinters (Asafa Powell, Tyson Gay, Maurice Greene, Usain Bolt) whose track and field times would translate to very low 4 second range NFL combine-style 40 times.
Regarding the fastest 40 ever run by an NFL player, there are lots of players noted to have been clocked around 4.1, such as Darrell Green, Deion Sanders, Raghib Ismail, Joey Galloway to name but a few. There are also many notable burners over the years who could have no doubt ran in the 4.1 range, such as Willie Gault, Bob Hayes, Cliff Branch and so on. There have been pure sprinters who have tried their hands at pro football who also should be mentioned, such as Renaldo Nehemiah, Alexander Wright and Jimmy Hines.
But it is Olympic athlete, Ben Johnson, who was believed to have run 40 yards faster than any human in history. Johnson is best known for injecting steroids and winning the 100 meters at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul in 9.79 seconds, only to have his gold medal and world record stripped after failing a post-race drug test.
Timing officials have since broken down that famed race into 10-meter increments, and Johnson was so preposterously fast that he went through 50 meters in 5.52 seconds and 60 meters in 6.37 - both under the current world records at the time at those distances. He went through 40 yards that day in 4.38 seconds. But, no matter how fast he was on steroids, Usain Bolt's legal 9.69 (9.55 without slowing) 100m time (40 yards of it) blows it away. Usain Bolt's 40 yard during his 100m record was likely a VERY low 4 such as 4.09 or 4.02.
