If I were to attempt typical Jewish humor, the answer would be something like this: it takes two Jews to screw in a light bulb, a husband, who screws in the light bulb, and the wife, who nags the husband about it. Depends where you buy it from, how fresh it is, the size of the Turkey and quality of it (where did they get it from)

The historic descriptions of the pilgrims first celebration mentioned only fowl. While there may have been wild turkey, it was much more likely that the fowl mentioned was duck, grouse, goose and swan which were much more available and in quantity at the time.
Turkey became popular as the Thanksgiving celebrations became more and more of a gathering of family and friends. It was much easier to cook one large bird for the meal than several small chickens or ducks.

First off there was no meal at a first Thanksgiving like most American's have come to believe....Nor did they eat wild turkey....There meal would of been things they grew and harvested and some wild game, could it have been turkey ? maybe but chances are it was either deer are phesants

Traditionally, turkeys are filled with stuffing. However, for food safety reasons, it is recommended that the stuffing and turkey are cooked separately. You can fill the turkey after it is totally cooked, if you wish to do so.

Turkey was most likely served at the first Thanksgiving because it was a bird of the new world. Other ripe crops like corn were also at the firs thanksgiving. Typically, any food that represent the "New World" woudl be served at hte firs Thanksgiving.

First tukeys are abused and are curly beaten. Second they can carry disease that can kill human beings. So if your eating turkey on thanksgiving you supporting abusment and putting you life at risk

This was the topic of discussion this past Thanksgiving. I did my research, as I too was curious. I discovered most female turkeys are used for Thanksgiving. They get a faster turn over on the farms with the females, as they grow faster than the males. Most male turkey meat is used for deli products and turkey burgers, as they can get up to 35 lbs. , which is way to big to fit in an oven. Males ARE called Toms, Females called HENS, younger birds are called JAKES. Females also have more meat on them for the size they are. Females do cost more than a male, but again, most turkeys are females.
