I'm gonna go with No. Let me explain that, in some detail.

Most people think that accredited means accredited, that there is some government body that decides whether schools are accredited or not.

This is not, in fact, the case. Schools are accredited by accreditation agencies. There are lots of these, and some of them are more reputable than others.

Basically, you shouldn't just look to see if the school is accredited, you should look to see who it's accredited by. Ideally, what you'd like to find is that yes, the school is accredited by an accreditation agency which is itself recognized by the US Department of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

There are six regional accrediting bodies that are so recognized, and a handful of additional ones that are not specific to a particular region. Most state-run colleges and universities will be accredted by their regional accrediting body; some private colleges may be accredited by one of the other recognized accrediting agencies...

and then there are those that are "accredited" by, essentially, "Joe's Fly-By-Night Accreditation Service", whose motto is "If your check clears, you're accredited."

Generally speaking, schools that are really accredited by a recognized agency are justifiably quite proud of it and make a point of letting you know which one it is, so that you can then go check them out to make sure that they are, in fact, recognized and feel confident that the degree you get there will be regarded as legitimate by employers, other schools, and so forth.

Cosmopolitan? Not so much. In fact, from their website: "Although we cannot guarantee that our degrees will be accepted" ... does this SOUND like something a legitimately accredited school would say?

I do want to make one thing clear: I am not saying that any non-accredited school, or school whose accreditation does not trace back to USDOE or CHEA, is necessarily a scam or that the education provided there is worthless, especially if you're getting vocational training rather than a degree. It is, however, a factor to consider in your personal evaluation as to whether a particular school will help you meet your goals or merely give you an expensive piece of paper that employers and other schools will not accept.

You will have to talk to the people at the college you are applying to. They will have the requirements for transfer of credits.

That's a rather vague question because all employers recognize all degrees.

There will be differing viewpoints on this depending on the experiences of the students who attended school at each school. There are some differences that may help students decide. Regis University is a brick and mortar school in Colorado that also offers classes online. University of Phoenix has campuses all over the U.S. and online. Both schools are regionally accredited. Regis is a non-profit school and U of P is a for profit school. Regis University is also a Jesuit school (but students who go there do not have to practice a particular religion), while University of Phoenix does not have any religious affiliation.

No, there is no indication of this. Many schools go through this rumor mill, but that is all it is, rumor started by individuals with a lack of inside information, lack of good critical thinking skills, blindly accept rumors, and can't wait to excite others by mixing it up with their words. Never assume what you hear, read, see, until you have all the facts. Large institutions like the University of Phoenix would never put themselves at risk of losing a critical accreditation which affects their very survival. The regional accrediting agencies will make their periodic site visits. If the visit indicates there are areas of concern, the institutions have time to address the issues. Many institutions will receive recommendations by the accrediting agencies as well as concerns to be addressed. Now, have there been colleges and universities that have lost their accreditation, yes. I do not believe The University of Phoenix will be one of them.

Transferring credits from one accredited institution to another institution holding the same accreditation should not be a problem as long as the course work is equivalent. That being said, whether the credits will be transferred is always dependent on the receiving institution, the specific department, and their transfer credit policies and regulations particular to that school. Thus, transferring credits from any school to another is never a guarantee. Some schools can be very selective when it comes to transferring credits. So, this is not an issue of just the University of Phoenix (which is an excellent university with the appropriate accreditation), but to all colleges and universities. At this time there is no standardized method or policy for transferring credits. Still, you can contact the University of California at Berkeley and inquire about there transfer credit policies.

First, there are a number of institutions named Everest in a number of states. I am not sure which of them you are referring to. I can say that the University of phoenix, has the preferred regional accreditation. If the Everest College you are referring also has a regional accreditation it will be a toss up. The only thing I can tell you is that the individuals I know who have graduated from the University of Phoenix were extremely satisfied with their coursework and student services.

The university does not offer sports.

Both universities have the appropriate regional accreditation, and both are good schools. Walden is a much smaller institution. The issue that concerns me about this school is that not much is said about the faculty, their background, degrees, and qualifications. The University of Phoenix is a very large institution, and they are very organized, have a great faculty, and are very accommodating. Still, the choice is yours. Which ever one you choose, just remember they both have a regional accreditation, which is the most important concern. Look at the tuition rates and fees and see which one meets your approval.

Is the University of Phoenix Ground Campus accredited for all majors.

Both institutions have the preferred regional accreditation. Therefore, the coursework and degree you complete through either of these institutions will be recognized by all other colleges and universities as well as employers. You will have to research the programs of study (majors), student services available, tuition and fees rates, etc., and choose the one you feel the most comfortable with. Both are good universities.
