Why did the Mormon settlers lay their streets in a grid at The Salt Lake Valley?

Joseph Smith had made a city plan for the city of Zion, which was never built. This plan was a grid pattern with religious and cultural centers at the center of each neighborhood, and allowing each family to have a large backyard in order to raise their own food. When the Mormon pioneers moved to Salt Lake City, they adapted this plan a little (such as making the streets incredibly wide), and then implemented it. Many other pioneer cities in the west follow a similar grid pattern. It is easy to find your way around and give directions, so the grid pattern continues to be followed today.

Can you ride a motorcycle all year round in salt lake city?

I would not ride a motorcycle in the winter in Salt Lake City. They get a moderate amount of snow and a number of very cold days. There are an average of 37 snow days per year, and the record low is below -20 F. However, a more typical winter day has temperatures rather like Seattle with highs in the upper thirties and lows of about 20 F.

No You Cannot From My Experience In The Winters It Would Be Pretty Difficult Nearly Impossible Considering As Much Snow Will Be On The Streets, And Also Due To The Drivers Who Cant Adapt To Snow (99%) ..So I Would Suggest Four Wheel Drive On Whatever You Get..Ive Lived In Utah For About 6 Years Now Im California, Havent Been Back Since. I Wouldnt Suggest Anyone To Go There Unless Retired Also

What is the difference between the climate of salt lake county and Utah county?

None, really. Sometimes it will be raining or snowing in one county and not the other, but their climates are the same.

Another Answer

Only 45 miles separate the county seats of these two counties. But today in Utah county the temperature is 81 degrees F, humidity of 37%. In Salt Lake County, the temperature is 91 degrees F, humidity 20%. The differences are probably attributable to the heavier density of buildings and infrastructure in Salt Lake County.
