The most recently added sport to the Olympic events is skateboarding. Skateboarding made its debut at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. The competition featured two disciplines: street and park. The street event involves performing tricks on obstacles like stairs, rails, and curbs, while the park event involves performing tricks on a bowl-shaped course with various transitions and obstacles.

Skateboarding was added to the Olympics to appeal to a younger audience and to make the Games more inclusive of urban and youth culture. It was one of several new sports added to the 2020 Games, including surfing, sport climbing, karate, and baseball/softball.
