What temperature is venison meatloaf done?

Medium for venison is 160F. This is also the temperature at which any bacteria is killed. It is a very important internal temperature for ground venison. Venison burgers should always be coked to a minimum of 160F. However, if you are cooking whole cuts like stakes or roasts a lower internal temperature (140F) is recommended to enhance flavor and tenderness.

Venison is delicate. Most complaints about venison being "gamey" spring from over cooking or leaving too much fat on the meet when butchering. If butchered properly and cooked to no more than medium rare the stakes or chops will not have that "gamey" flavor. If you like your meet cooked well you will not want to fry, roast, or grill whole cuts of venison. In that case adapt recipes that call for braising (cook long, slow, and wet) like bourguignon or sauerbraten.

Enjoy.

What is the color of venison?

How long can cooked ground venison stay at room temperature?

Foods that are left out in room temperature for more than an hour can begin bacteria growth. Our stomach acids can kill some of these bacterias but not all and some can make you very sick. Keep foods OUT of the danger zone- Above 45 degrees and Below 145 degrees. Between these temperatures bacteria lives and breeds on our foods.

What does deer meat taste like?

Deer meat does not sound like a very nice thing to eat if i was u dnt eat it its not very tasty or nice to the animal who had 2 suffer

Rebuttal (with proper spelling and grammar):

I think it tastes quite different but similar to beef, which I don't care for much. It is a red meat, very lean, and if it is trimmed well and butchered carefully doesn't even have much gamy flavor. Venison tastes rich without being fatty. And venison from different areas will taste different, depending on what they have been feeding on.

Is venison healthy?

"Wild caught" meat is better than factory farm meat, obviously, because it hasn't been fed hormones and pesticides and cement (I am not making this up -- factory farms feed their cows cement dust to increase their weight), but meat in general, of all sorts, is bad for you. Cats and dogs have straight-line intestinal systems that, not to put it too delicately, grab it and get rid of it. Our complicated double-loop intestines hold onto things, and take everything they can get. Once a baby gets teeth, they don't need as much protein as miniature poodle does.

If you like the flavor of meat, add a few shreds of it to your salad, pasta, veggies, whatever. But meat of ANY sort should NEVER be the main part of the meal. Look at your teeth. They're made for CHEWING, not cutting and slicing like a cat's.

Deer and pig also tend to have diseases and parasites that are easily transmissable, so make sure you cook it above boiling temperature.

Should you use vinegar to remove the gamey flavor from venison?

I tried it, but what i like best is using the adolphs or other brands of meat marinades that come in the paper pouch, seems to make it more tender and deer steaks sure do taste better

ANSWER:I like to use buttermilk instead. It tenderizes the meat and removes that gamey taste. Just soak it in buttermilk overnight. Then you can use any maninade you like. I prefer Dales sauce.

If you like onion and garlic they will take the gamey taste out of any game

Is deer meat safe to eat if it has an injury that is infected?

Since the exact nature of the infection is unknown, consuming such meat can only be considered risky. It is possibly safe enough if it is thoroughly cooked (well-done) and there is no other choice (in a survival situation, for instance), but if there is an alternative meat source known to be safe, why take such a risk with tainted meat? Be aware that some infectious diseases cannot be destroyed by cooking or extreme heat (Mad Cow Disease/BSE being a prime example).
