No, they are different medications -- vicodin is a narcotic pain killer and penicillin is an anti-biotic. An allergy to vicodin is unreleated to an allergy to penicillin. However, do not use Vicodin if you are allergic to acetaminophen (Tylenol) or hydrocodone.

Hydrocodone is the active ingrediant in Vicodin, lortab, lorcet, and all the other name brands for the medication.. Very high. Both products contain acetaminophen, which is a rare allergy, but possible. Vicodin contains hydrocodone and percocet contains Oxycodone -- two different yet very similar compounds. Unless you are tested and the test shows otherwise, you are wise to assume if you're allergic to one, you are likely to be to the other.
