Why did president Washington needed blue prints for Washington DC?

Washington was essentially overseeing the planning and design of a new national capital city on a site which, with the exception of towns like Georgetown and Alexandria, was overwhelmingly farmland and uncleared woodland. Pierre L'Enfant, a major in the French army engineers, was commissioned to design the new city; and Washington, who had been a surveyor, had an overriding interest in L'Enfant's work and design. Washington never needed blue prints, per se, but he was acutely interested in seeing renderings of L'Enfant's plan for the federal city.

Why are so many of the US's national monument memorials historic sites and landmarks are located in and around Washington DC?

John Carrol high of Washington D.C.?

Archbishop Carroll High School is a private, Catholic high school located in Washington, D.C. It is owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Washington.

www.archbishopcarroll.org/

Archbishop Carroll High School opened in 1951 and expressed the vision of the Most Reverend Patrick A. O'Boyle, the first Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Washington, who felt strongly that the Catholic Church should lead by example in the area of integration. Named in honor of Archbishop John Carroll, the first Catholic Archbishop in the United States, the school offered a college preparatory education for young men, regardless of race or ethnicity. For its first 40 years, the Augustinian Friars operated Archbishop Carroll and, along with lay faculty, taught students in a values-centered curriculum.

In 1989, the Archdiocese of Washington merged several high schools -- Archbishop Carroll, All Saints, Mackin, the Academy of Notre, and Holy Spirit - into one school on the Archbishop Carroll site, and, at that point, the school became co-educational. Today, Carroll enrolls more than 600 students, and it remains as the only high school owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Washington.

How can i identify the type of a black bird in central Maryland metro Washington dc area?

I live in the DC metro area myself. If it is not too big (6-8 inches high) and kind of has a green sheen to it's head - it's a grackle. If they kind of look like small crows about a foot high- they are fishing crows (and just give a single funny sounding "caw" when they fly). If they're pretty big (over 1 foot high) most likely they're American crows. Not aware of any other plain black birds in our area. Red-winged blackbirds will have a reddish-orange spot on their wings near their body and usually hang out near swamps or standing water with cattails.
