All dogs eat grass from time to time; it's probably in part because of moisture on the grass, in part because they like the feel of the blades in their teeth (similar to dental floss), and in part it's because the roughage from grass is good for their digestion and elimination. Don't let dogs eat grass that has been treated to fertilizer or pesticide, but otherwise a small amount of grass eating isn't a problem at all.

i use to have a westie! he was the best dog.........they are good dogs, good watchdogs, excellent with children good temperment. however its also how the dog is raised if you socialize it from a puppy it would be a great dog..........and they are so adorable!! hope this helps! Terriers are stubborn dogs so they need a person who understands their personality. I have always had Scotties and have learned that you deal with a terrier in ways that are different from other dogs. A terrier won't do something just because you want him/her to they have to want to do it. They are smart dogs and very independent so they are not easy to train. I saw an experienced trainer defeated by my Scotty because he wasn't going to do what she wanted.

westies are small compact dogs with floppy ears when young and erect ears when older they are very friendly and good with children especially males.

Like many very furry breeds, Westies do go through an "uglies" stage where it seems like they will never be in full coat, especially the thick ruff of hair around the face seems to come about slowly. But do not worry!! The fur WILL come in and your Westie will be in beautiful full snow-white coat by one year in age.

It really depends on where you buy it from. from a good breeder, they cost about 600-1000. from a previous owner, it depends on how old there adults are less and puppies are more. A puppy with a good pedigree that meets all the standards for the breed will sell upwards of 1500 with female pups being a few hundred dollars more than the males. Some puppies are as high as 2800.

Yes, but they are not an AKC standard. AKC only recongizes Miniatures which is under 11 lbs and standard which is 16 lbs and over. Dachshunds make amazing pets. I have 2 myself and they're wonderful obedient VERY easy to train and loyal companions. My mother in law and sister in law have dachshunds as well. In fact they got me started realizing how amazing they are. They're enegetic, courageous personalities. They always bark if someone is at the door which may be annoying to some but makes me feel safe that i know someone is coming. I completely recommend a dachsund as a pet if you're looking for one.

Hold up your Westie's hair between your fingers. You should see two layers. The bottom layer is white, growing, live hair. The top layer is the dead hairs. Just pull out the dead hairs. Do this all over the body until he/she looks even. This may take an hour or two. Wearing surgical gloves makes the job a lot easier because you get a better grip on the hair. This does not hurt them, you are just pulling out the dead hairs. You should do this every week or two to keep them looking neat and non-shedding.

i have a west highland white terrier , when i first brought him he was very disobedient then i decided it was time to train him . now Bobbie is very obedient . any dog is intelligent if you train them properly .

The life expectancy of the West Highland White Terrier is around 11-14 years, and there are a number of health problems to look out for with this breed. This includes Legg-Perthes, cataracts, CMO, vWD, seizures, allergies, and luxating patella. The parents of the West Highland White Terrier puppy should have OFA and CERF certificates. They should also be screened for GDC and luxating patella.
