Wicca

Wicca is a belief system introduced by Gerald Gardner in the 1950's and loosely based on the reconstruction of pre-Christian traditions. Wicca is a spiritual path that affirms the existence of supernatural powers (magic) and of both male and female gods who are inherent in nature. All practitioners of Wicca are witches, but not all witches are practitioners of Wicca. Wicca refers to the recognized religion but is not the sole example of pagan beliefs. The one discernible difference between Wicca and other various pagan paths is the practitioners strict adherence to the Wiccan Rede.

What are replacements for incense in wicca?

You need incense in a Wiccan ritual. But you could do a ritual even if you cannot prepare incense at all.

There are several types of incense you could use.

Powdered incense on a charcoal disk or a Censor

Incense cones or stick incense

Incense oil on an oil burner.

Oncense oil does not give off fumes, and safe for using indoors for a small room/long ritual.

Who made up the Wiccan Religion And What Year?

Gerald Gardener, in the 1950s, is generally given that distinction, though "made up" is a term with negative connotations.

It might be better to say that of the newly emerging beliefs from the 1920s on up, he greatly assisted in regularizing it and helping it get it's start.

While it is purely modern, and has no continuity with older pagan belief systems, it is a bona fide faith, and the IRS recognizes it as a church for purposes of tax exemption.

What is the meaning of the Crescent moon in Wicca neo-paganism?

Answer:

It depends.

The crescent moon as represented in the symbol )0( (a more or less way to use type to represent the symbol) actually has triple meaning. This symbol is actually a symbol of two crescent moons; one waxing and one waning, with the full moon in the center between the two crescents. This is commonly known as a Goddess symbol, because in Wiccan theology the moon is representative of the Goddess's power. The waxing crescent (left) symbolizes the Goddess's transition from the status of Maiden to Mother (the full moon, the center circle.) The Waning moon (right) symbolizes the transition from Mother to Death; known as The Crone stage. From left to right we have the three forms represented in this way: the "Maiden" by the ) crescent, the "Mother" by the 0 full moon, and the "Crone" by the ( crescent.

You may also see the crescent in a Cheshire cat smile form sitting above a circle. This symbol represents the union between the God and Goddess: the crescent in this form represents the stags or horns of the Horned God, and the circle represents the full moon (i.e. the Mother phase of the Goddess.)

Can there be a dark and light wiccan?

The practice of the Craft, is not divided into good/bad, white/black, light/dark or any other polarities.

Like all spiritual paths, Paganism/Wicca is practiced by humans, and humans are very complex creatures, who never (I repeat never) are completely one thing.

The energies and powers used in the Craft exist, with or without being noticed, tapped into, channeled, or used. Those powers do not have a polarity any more than electricity running through a line has polarity.

Pagans (Wiccans included) make every effort to be as good as they can be, some are less good at it than others, but that can be said of lawyers, priests, school teachers, police officers, and very nearly everyone else in the world.

You judge others by their actions, but I have never heard anyone ask if someone was a dark or light human.

What is a wooden wiccan ring?

What is a son of a wiccan called?

He is usually called by his given name(s).

A child (either gender) born into a pagan family (Wicca is just one of many pagan spiritual paths) is not "baptized" into the faith. They are introduced to the gods, and the gods are asked to watch over them until they reach an age where they can make their own choice about which spiritual path they want to walk.

FYI the words Wiccan, Pagan, Heathen, Witch, Magician, Alchemist, etc. are not gender specific. Meaning both male and female practitioners are called by the same term.

Do wiccans go to hell?

The ArgumentsAccording to Wiccan beliefs, hell is only a myth, and it does not exist. They believe that they are reincarnated.

According to Christian beliefs, they will go to hell since they reject God's gift of redemption through His Son, Jesus Christ.

According to mystic teachings and quantum physics, the only reality which exists is the one you make/experience for yourself. Therefore as Wiccans do not believe in hell, they will not go there.

The Logic
  • In this universe there are infinite realities and infinite dimensions, proven by science in the news. 'Insane" people are not insane, they just live in a reality that we cannot see, so are shunned. We cannot know what exists and what does not. How do we know if we truly exist? How can we be sure? Time is also an illusion, everything and nothing is happening at once. So with this right now you are dead, alive, in hell, in heaven, an animal, a tree, and all things at once. People who are insane and belive that they are animals, would be if everyone saw them as that too.
  • "Science" is absolute. When the Wright Bros were making an airplane, everyone else belived that flight was impossible. Did that keep Bernoulli's principle from taking to the skies? There have been many discoveries that changed the way people look at things. In Galileo's time, everyone believed the Earth was the center of the universe. Did that all change when people changed their minds? Please tell me the universe is not based in our fickle minds.
  • Unfortunantly, however, you cannot keep yourself from losing millons in the stock market. You cannot reverse a truth simply because you do not believe it happens. That is called denial.
Therefore, either hell exists or it doesn't. Either an omni-potent God exists, or we fabricate our own existence from the nothing that we are. Either people are held to standards, or they aren't. Either people go to heaven or hell according to God's mercy and justice, or we are reincarnated, or we simply cease to exist. What incredible arrogance to think you can control time, places, and realities simply because you make them for yourself!
  • One side is right, the opposing viewpoints are wrong. Which side? We will each argue our side, but one thing is certain: The side which says all sides are right cannot be right for the simple reason that two complete opposite beliefs cannot exist. It is like one side saying "He raped her" and the other side saying "She was not violated." It is not logical.
Billions of people are wrong. If Christians are wrong, then they will cease to exist or be reincarnated like everyone else. If these "mystic teachers" are wrong, then they are headed to an eternity of suffering existence, tortured and alone. Do you really want to take that chance with your soul?
  • We are playing Russian Roulette with our souls. Are you wearing a bullet-proof vest?

According to physical evidence (science has confirmed existence of the "lake of fire" that is described in the Bible) and spiritual evidence (stories from "agnostic" people experiencing "near death" report there is a hell, mystical events), Hell has been proven to exist. This is the place where people, sick with a cancerous disease called "sin" go to die, spiritually.

Hells' existence is not a question of belief. It is a question of proof of existence. The Wicca logic, that says, I don't believe, therefore it must not exist, doesn't acknowledge any proof.

Jesus is the judge. He will determine who goes to Heaven or Hell. Wiccan's go to heaven if they chose God and Jesus heals them of their cancer (sin).

If you are a Wiccan, are you "good" with Jesus? You will reap what you sow. If you promoted sin and turned away from God, then you will reap an afterlife without God's healing, unless you turn to Jesus.

Challenge Jesus to an encounter. Find out if He really is who He says He is.

Why is Jesus credible?

(1) He fulfilled over 90 prophecies that were foretold hundreds to more that a thousand years before His birth, (2) His cruxifition is historically (historians and witnesses) and physically proven (burial cloth), (3) His history is as a man of miracles, of God, of love and reconcilliation, of healing, of righteousness. (4) He has establised a spiritual movement that has gone from 13 people in the beginning to over 1/3rd of the population of the earth. (5) Many people report similar "supernatural" experiences that were reported by the 13 in the 1st Century AD. (healing, answers to prayer, miracles, presence of God's Spirit, etc.). (6) No other religious nor spiritual leader has come even close to a supernatual / spiritual presence that Jesus has.

What powers does a wiccan actually have?

The power to reason and think for themselves.

The power to do good for themselves, their family & friends and the world in general.

The power to choose to be who and what they want to be.

The power to speak directly with their god (upper case or lower case, singular or plural) without the intercession of another person or "priest".

And the power to change the only person that really counts.... Themselves. This is not exclusive to Wiccans only... Pagans in general have these powers. As does everyone else in the world!

What are wiccan's opinion on TV series like Charmed or Supernatural?

I can't speak for others, but as a practicing witch and a lifetime Pagan I've never been all that fond of them.

With so much being portrayed on TV as "the way it IS", it actually makes my life harder.

Those who don't know us think we are either a fluffy as some of the characters on TV or think we actually do some of the "magic" that is only possible with a good FX department. Others realising the shows are "fake" assume there are no such things as real witches. How ever you look at it we're snookered.

What kind of magick uses angelic symbols does wicca?

I have been a Wiccan for almost 9 years now and recently the use of Angels within Wicca is becoming more and more popular. The reason for this is that the Gods and Goddesses were human entities and had two sides, good and bad, so you have to make sure that you access the good qualities. This can be difficult if you are trying to concentrate on the outcome of your ritual. Modern Wiccans, like myself, are now using the Angelic Realm within our rituals as these are the highest and more purest entities that you will find. I am currently working on my own book based on the Angelic realm. I hope that helps.

Bright Blessings
