Winnie Mandela was born on September 26, 1936.

Pooh is his lastname. Winni is his first, as in Winni the Pooh. He was named after a real bear that got rescued years ago.

Winnie the Pooh was written by a British author A.A. Milne, born in London, and based the character Winnie the Pooh on a Canaidan bear named after the City of Winnipeg in Manitoba. So you could say Winnie the Pooh was British or Canadian.

He does not have a special way of greeting people. He mainly says 'Hello.'

Christopher Robin is growing up and going to school and at the end of 'The House at Pooh Corner,' he and Winnie-the-Pooh have a long and private farewell. Well, Winnie-the-Pooh has the initial advantage because he has back legs, whereas Sooty just has a hand up his backside. However, Winnie-the-Pooh is only stuffed with stuffing, whereas Sooty contains a large fist - significantly more powerful than teddy-bear stuffing and capable of punching red-shirted bears hard on the nose.

Then again, Sooty doesn't have a mouth (or if he does, it's stitched up), whereas Winnie-the-Pooh does, and it is presumably filled with hugeawesome bear teeth that could rip Sooty (and the hand inside him) apart in seconds.

But then, Sooty is a magician and has all the powers of the Dark Arts at his beck and call, so I'm inclined to think he'd use his evil powers to simply disintegrate Winnie-the-Pooh and have done with it.

In summer of 1914 a train full of Canadian soldiers pulled into the station in White River, Ontario, Canada. One of the soldiers on board was a young Captain by the name of Harold Colebourn. Captain Colebourn came across a black bear cub. He purchased the cub for $20 and brought the animal along with him on the train ride. His hometown was Winnipeg, Manitoba so the bear's name was shortened to "Winnie."

Everyone was in love with the bear, especially a little boy by the name of Christopher Robin Milne, who was AA Milne's son. And this is where the inspiration for Winnie the Pooh came from.
