It is not true. There is a program that has been around for about two decades where victims of domestic violence can get a free phone so they can call 911 in case they are in danger. But that program was started long before President Obama.

There is also a myth that the president wants to pay your cell phone bill. This is an internet scam, from people who want to get your personal information and steal your identity. The president is not paying anyone's cell phone bill.

It depends of course on whether they need it or not and if they are responsible enough to not lose it. One of them has lost their phone, but that happens to everyone and you shouldn't be extra harsh on them just because they are young.

My opinion is if they really want one and they are responsible enough to keep up with it (and not using it inappropriately) then it is OK.
