Why doesn't Microsoft want people having Xbox live for the original Xbox?
Its not that they wanted them to have it but the orignal xbox live was out of date and costed them to run out of date servers that was not needed and not used as much as the newer servers.

You have to sync the together. First you have to have them on the same network, and also hope that your router will allow you to do this. This varies based on your operating system.

If it's Windows Vista you, first, go to your XBox and make sure it can connect to xbox live using the network connectivity tool. Then, go to Media, from there go to Windows Media Center. Go through the on-screen instructions to obtain the 8 digit Media Center Setup Key. Write this key down. Take your setup key to your computer. At the computer, set your Network Category to Private by completing the following. First, In Control Panel, choose Network and Internet. Then choose Network Center. In the network details section, Choose Switch Category until the network category says Private Network. Setting your network category to Private will configure the Windows firewall to allow discovery of the Xbox 360 on the network. Launch Media Center. If you have not completed the Media Center setup,complete this process before adding the Xbox 360. From the Media Center start menu, select Tasks, Add Extender. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process for adding the Xbox 360 to your computer.

First you need to download Windows Media Player 11. Then, when it is finished installing you need to start Windows Media Player 11. Click the arrow below the Library tab, and then click Media Sharing. In the Media Sharing dialog box, select the Share my media to check box. In the list of devices below the Share my media to check box, select your Xbox 360 console. Click Allow. Click OK. In the Media area of the Xbox Dashboard, select Music, Pictures , or Videos.
