simply this. they believed in doing everything in their power to preserve and also to create a bigger, better, stronger Germany. Hitler was trying to figure out why Germany, at the time and even prior to, his chancellorship in 1939 (or Fuhrership i should say), was ultimately, in his eyes, failing and consequently destroying Germany. So, as a result, he created this regime, which we now know as "Nazionalsozialistisch Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (National Socialist German Workers' Party)" or "The National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP)" or just the Nazi Party. He hired, according to my research, which im not condoning as ultimately correct or incorrect, the most radical people to work for him such as Reinhard Heydrich, chief of the Reich Security Main Office (which included the Gestapo, SD, and the Kripo Nazi Police), who, ultimately concocted the "Final Solution to the Jewish question", which also was another remedy for the problem that was ailing "the Reich" (AKA the Jews, hence the name). Another individual who was just as destructive as Hitler and Heydrich was, of course, Heinrich Himmler, who was basically a "wanna-be Hitler" in my eyes. He was head of the SS and he foresaw millions of Jews taken to their death. A popular German magazine, according to wikipedia.org, labeled him "greatest mass murderer of all time." SO THE POINT IM TRYING TO MAKE TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION IS THIS: IN THEIR (THE NAZI HEAD LEADERS) EYES, THE DESTRUCTION AND ALL OUT EVIL THEY WERE CONDUCTING WAS THEIR ATTEMPT TO RESCUE GERMANY FROM THE "AILMENT" THAT WAS GOING TO, IN THEIR EYES, DESTROY THE REICH/DEUTSCHLAND/GERMANY. (THE AILMENT BEING THE JEWS). Fireflies, also known as "lightning bugs", are beetles belonging to the family Lampyridae. The use of the word "lamp" in their family name aptly illustrates the extraordinary characteristic that elevates fireflies to such a beloved position in the minds of humans.
