Fruits for making fruit yogurt can be sourced from local grocery stores, farmers' markets, or you can pick them fresh from orchards and farms. What is a good and convenient food that you can snack on all day besides yogurt?

I would say bite size fruit. Nuts like pecans, almonds, peanuts, etc. can be good as well if they are low on the sodium. Trail mixes are a treat. Think healthy ,but have a little fun.:)

snacking all day is not good , full stop eat 3 proper meals a day with a very light snack between and you will be in good shape.PS snacking is what makes Americans have the highest obesity problem in the world

Correction...snacking on empty calories all day is what makes Americans have the highest obesity problem in the world. If you were to snack on things like fresh fruits and vegetables (without adding any dips, toppings etc etc) or items like plain popcorn AND eat normal portioned size meals (for hints on portion control, read the size of boxes, cans etc) you will not like become obese and more likely will lose weight with only minimal exercize.

I agree with laying low on sodium, but also on unhealthy fats. If you are eating (or snacking) all day it may also be a underlying sign that you have too much time on your hands. Get out and sign up to volunteer in your community if possible. If you have a disability that prevents physical labor, find a charity that needs help in administration or something of the sort.

Why does the milk used to make yogurt need to be bacteria free?

The milk used to make yogurt does not have to be bacteria free, but it helps. The reason is that yogurt is made by adding good bacteria "Dairy yoghurt is produced using a culture of Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus and Streptococcus salivarius subsp. thermophilusbacteria" which means those cultures will be in competition with any other bacteria, good or bad, which may be present in the milk.

For home yogurt making, it is recommended you heat milk to 190F before cooling it down and adding the culture - that kills any other bacteria present and changes the proteins in the milk to increase the firmness of the resulting yogurt.

How do pathogens enter yogurt?

Pathogens would enter the yogurt by poor hygiene or by improper food handling techniques. It is also possible that unpasteurized milk was used and not properly brought up to temperature before inoculating the milk with the yogurt cultures. Of course, if you don't properly bring the milk up to temperature what you are going to have is spoiled milk...you wouldn't likely eat it because the smell would be awful.
