No, Berserk Dragon cannot be special summoned except by "A Deal with Dark Ruler". No external effect can get around this, that is the only way it can hit the field.

When 'Light and Darkness Dragon' attacks 'Marshmallon' does he negate 'Marshmallon's effect and destroy it?

Marshmallon has a Trigger Effect that deals damage and a continuous effect that prevents it from being destroyed by battle.

If a face-down Marshmallon is attacked, it will first be flipped face-up. You will then calculate damage - unless LaDD's ATK has been reduced severely, more than likely no damage will be dealt. If LaDD's attack is higher, it doesn't matter as Marshmallon cannot be destroyed by battle.

Marshmallon's effect will then trigger, Light and Darkness Dragon will chain to it and negate it, so no damage is dealt.

Note that Light and Darkness Dragon does not destroy the cards he negates, so Marshmallon will remain on the field. Also note that Light and Darkness Dragon can do nothing to continuous effects as they do not 'activate'. That means he can do nothing against Marshmallon's battle protection.

What happens when an XYZ monster is to be returned to the hand in Yu-Gi-Oh?

Like Fusion and Synchro monsters, it will return to the Extra Deck. Any attached XYZ material will be placed in the graveyard.

Are monsters used for a Synchro Summon considered 'Tributed'?

No, they are simply 'sent to the graveyard'. They are not Tributed, which is a specific form of send, but anything that specifically Tributes a monster will say so on the card.

Can xyz material be detached during battle phase?

XYZ monster effects are exactly the same as regular monster effects - divided into Ignition, Trigger and Quick Effects. Quick Effects can be used during the Battle Phase.

Number 39 Utopia for example has a Quick Effect that is specifically used in the Battle Phase. If any other XYZ says it can be used in the opponent's turn, then more than likely it is a Quick Effect also and could be used during either Battle Phase. Giant Soldier of Steel is an example.

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Tiger King on the other hand has an effect that negates the effects of all face-up non-Beast Warrior monsters until the end of the opponent's turn. This is an Ignition Effect and can only be activated in your main phases, so could not be used in the battle phase, including yours.

How are the Battle Step the Damage Step and damage calculation different in Yu-Gi-Oh?

The Battle Phase is complicated and goes as follows.

1 - The phase is entered.
2 - The active player chooses a monster and an attack target, this is a Battle Step.
3 - Players can respond to the attack, cards like Sakuretsu Armor are used here.
4 - If the attack is not stopped, you enter the Damage Step. The attack target is flipped face-up if it was face-down.
5 - Players have a chance to use ATK or DEF-changing cards, or any card that says it can be used in the Damage Step.
6 - Damage Calculation is performed - compare ATKs or ATK vs DEF where appropriate. Monsters who are 'considered destroyed' do not leave the field just yet. Damage to players is dealt here if appropriate.
7 - If a defending monster has a Flip Effect, it activates here.
8 - At the End of the Damage Step, any monster was considered 'destroyed by battle', now it goes to the graveyard, if an effect hasn't already sent it there.
9 - The attacking player can select a new monster for another Battle Step, or request to end the battle phase and continue to main phase 2.

Lastly any other effect that Triggers, will activate at whatever point in the above that its condition was met. Injection Fairy Lily for example uses her effect at Step 6. Shining Angel activates at Step 8.

Can you Special Summon Vice Dragon if your opponent controls more than one monster while you control no monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh?

Why did they shoot cannonballs at the Sphinx?

cause they wanted to

----------------------------

Somebody left a smart-ass answer but, then again, the question is flawed because it's unclear which "they" the question is referring to and exactly which Sphinx. If you're referring to the Great Sphinx of Giza, nobody has shot cannonballs at the monolith. The Great Sphinx has been excavated in modern times. Previously, only the head was exposed from the sands. The beard fell off due to time and gravity. Other parts of the head were possibly damaged by the vandalism of a 14th century Sufi Muslim who was trying to stop Nile tribes from worshiping the statue (and was hung for his defacing efforts by the Nile tribe). This may (if he was very successful) have been the cause of much of the defacement of the nose though it was long before the invention of cannonballs. Most of the damage is due to time and erosion and the oldest drawings in existence show the head has been in its current shape for hundreds of years.

SHORT ANSWER: Nobody shot cannonballs at the sphinx.

How do you defeat the Winged Dragon of Ra and the other Egyptian God cards?

Egyptian God cards, like the "Winged Dragon of Ra", cannot be targeted by Spell, Trap or Monster effects. This includes effects like "Snipe Hunter", "Raigeki Break" and "Tribute to the Doomed". Cards like "Judgement Dragon", "Mirror Force" and "Lightning Vortex" that destroy monsters, but do not actually designate a specific monster to destroy will get rid of Egyptian God cards.

The Individual Card Rulings section at YuGiOh-Card.com will tell you which cards do target monsters and which ones don't if you are curious about a particular card:

Actually if you use magnet monsters like Gamma or Alpha, you can backfire Slifer the Sky Dragon's special abillity so it will decrease their attack strength.
