Yes, it will only leak if the seal is bad. Have you checked the drive belt? Squealing is normally a loose or worn drive belt. Yes, the timing belt is brand new which is where the water pump sits. And somewhere with in the timing belt area this noise is coming from and I am not sure what it is... it seems to sound like an alternate when the bearings in it are going bad but it has been replaced.. any other suggestions? ALSO it could be the belt tensioner, the bearings might be warn out and be causing the squealing noise. replacement is approx 100$ doing it yourself
The belt will not generally squeal, but the water pump often makes a "Scrapy-scrapy-scrapy" sound.
they squeal because they are eathier hungry and need more food or they are thirsty and need more water.
That squeal you here is a very acute vibration that comes from the washer as it touches down on the base of the tap, it is normally caused due to very high water pressure.
The reason a water pipe squeals is because of the water rubbing against the metal of the pipe.
The fuel relay on a sunbird in under the hood on the left side just by the water over flow tank.
tools and knowledge (or a manual)
The squeal is probably from the belt or belts, could just be loose but put that together with not running and I would say one of the accessories driven by the belt has bad bearings and does not want to turn. look at the alternator and the water pump first.
Yes it will damage the bearings.
if its a 4 cylinder, its located inside the timing case.
You are probably splashing a little water on the belt. See if the lower mud guard is in place.
It could grind, squeal, squeak, or make no noise at all.
There are several examples of surfaces that have little friction between them. They are water against a boat, crude oil in water, ball bearings, roller bearings, and graphite.
