Yes, they bark... but not as much as a plain beagle. Beagle terriers are some of my favorite dogs
The scientific name of dogs is canis lupus familiaris. The breed of beagle is further specified after that as simply: Beagle or English Beagle.
The information at the American Kennel Club about the breed and how is got its name of Beagle states:
The origin of the name "Beagle" may have been derived from the French term "be'geule," referring to the baying voice of the hounds when in pursuit of game, or possibly the diminutive size of the hound.

We rescued our 2 beagle puppies from this organization. They rescue beagles from all over the country, especially the South where there are beagle auctions. When hunters are "done" with their beagles, they can be sold at auction. If no one buys them, they are destroyed. Penny Angel Beagle Rescue swoops in and saves many of these beagles. They can always use donations.
Beagles like most small breeds are pregnant for 64 to 66 days
Beagles are gentle, sweet, and funny. They will make you laugh, but that's when they're not making you cry because of their often naughty behavior. Beagle people spend a lot of time trying to outthink their dogs, and they often must resort to food rewards to lure the Beagle into a state of temporary obedience.
Like every dog, the Beagle needs early socialization--exposure to many different people, sights, sounds, and experiences--when they're young. Socialization helps ensure that your Beagle puppy grows up to be a well-rounded dog.
here's more info about this breed.

they are still used for farming and pulling carriages + carts for entertainment also they are used for circuses and maybe even just pets! Budweiser uses them as their official mascot, and uses them to pull a cart in parades and demonstrations.
Beagles generally do more howling than barking. Yes, the bark is annoying- but the howling is much worse. Beagles will howl at just about anything- people walking by, strange noises, or because they feel like it. The only way to stop a beagle from howling is to train it to lay down on command. Beagles cannot howl when laying down. I do not know if bark collars work, but sonic bark machines can help. Basically, beagles are not good as pets. They are hard to train, escape often and are bad for rummaging through garbage. They also howl a lot, and will upset neighbors. Such a pity, as they are certainly a handsome dog.
beagles can live up to 5 years if so longer but they usally die when time for them to bye bye-AAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In AKC-sanctioned shows, Beagles are shown in two varieties differentiated by size: the 13 inch and the 15 inch. For the first group, the dog must be under 15" at the shoulders, and for the second group, they must be at least 15" at the shoulder. There is no minimum or maximum height limit.
I'd recommend taking him/her to the vet ASAP or call you vet and ask about it. Depending on what the problem is they might be able to perscribe something over the phone, but definatly atleast call the vet.
My beagle follows me everywhere, sleeps right beside me day/night, waits for me at the door until I return home and smiles when I give him any attention or his favorite belly rub. I hope all this means he is attached to me because I am sure attached to him. He's my baby! Gentle, affectionate and full of character!
i have a jack Russell/ mini aussie mix and she looks like a jack russell, in body frame and weighs 11lbs. the aussie shows up in her coat which is tricolor black white and tan. They are very smart and easy to train, also rather mellow. you do however have to satisfy two different dogs, the hunting side of the jack russell and the instinct to herd from the aussie. other then that they are lovely and make great pets with high energy.
he is probably a mix. if so it's probably fine. but 13 to 15 inches at the SHOULDER is normal
Beagles love the woods. i keep my beagle in a fenced in area where she can run around and explore. make sure you give them plenty of space. Its ok if its hot or cold. just make sure you feed them and give them water. Also they like killing little animals. They are great hunting dogs. hope that helps BYE!!!!!
The Beagle does not belong because a Beagle is shorter than the others.
I have a dog that really does not like being washed. So I tried sevral experiments and over all only 1 worked. so here it goes, if your dog has a particular toy or treat they really like, put it on a trail leading to the bathtub. put his favorite, FAVORITE toy into a plastic hamster wheel kind of thing. your dog will jump into the bath. when he is in, release the toy and that will distract him/her so it will give you time to wash it.
Yes they do have an odor and they have really greasy skin and so when you touch them you get the grease on your hands! But other than that the breed of a beagle is such a good dog and they sure do get along with other dogs so don't let that make you say if you had to pick a dog to pick a beagle because a beagle is the best dog in the world!(and they are also really popular and used to be the most popular dog but it might not be anymore but it is definitly in the top five and the best dog ever!!!)
Yes, Lyndon Baines Johnson. He had the dog with him in his innaugural parade, which would have been in l964. I only learned about this in l980 when I saw an item about if in the magazine Dog World, ordinarily light-years removed from politics.
Yes but it will appreciate if you cook the cat first

This would be extremely unlikely. A beagle will make a game of chasing a cat.
A vicious beagle is very very uncommon. Most beagles are happy and friendly.
You may have heard that beagles were bred to hunt rabbits. What many people do not know is that the beagle does not kill the rabbit. He and his friends will chase it until it runs into a hole. (What the human does with the rabbit varies.)
My point is that to the beagle, rabbit hunting is a great game.
Well it really depends on the breed. Some breeds like great danes for example can have ten to thirteen and others such as bull dogs have one or two. But the average for most dogs or mutts in about 4-7. :)
Depends. If you want to have puppies definitely get a female. (no duh!) Even if you don't want to have puppies and still want a female it can be done, just with a little extra work. (AKA getting them fixed) Also, it sometimes depends on what gender you are yourself . Like if you're a female, you probably will have an easier time "bonding' with a dog the same gender as you. Hope this helps!
Yes, beagles can live outside they are hunting dogs. If puppies are born in very cold temperatures they should be brought in along with the mother. It depends on the enviorment. How cold or hot is it?Does it rain ? Is there too much Sun? Is the area fenced? Can the dog jump over or under the fence? Do you have a proper dog house? The personality of the dog? Will it Bark or cry all day? Are there preditors able to get at the dog? jumping over or diging under the fence? Is the fence properly LOCKED??
The average dog IQ is like that of a three-year-old human. The more work you put into your dog the smarter he/she seems. There are dogs that are more inclined to please you, like the border collie or golden retriever that do better in obedience classes and seem very smart.
