What are the pros and cons of bureaucracy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Strengths of bureaucracy:

1. A division of labor into spheres of influence 2. A definite hierarchy of official offices 3. Clear norms and rules 4. Selection to office is by technical qualification. 5. Promotion by seniority. 6. Disciplinary control over the incumbent of each office. 7. Better than feudal/traditional forms where people got appointed by favoritism or bribes.

Weaknesses of bureaucracy? 1. Becomes an Iron Cage of Control (as Weber saw it) 2. Red Tape from all the rules and sign offs 3. Hard to change this form 4. Divisions of labor compartmentalize attention and response. 5. Hierarchy can mean silos (e.g. must go up and down chains of command to get things done). 6. Certain irrationalities result.

What is the difference between elbow and wrist joints?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Wrist and elbow joints are both significant articulations in the human body, yet they have different purposes and anatomical characteristics. The main variations between these two joints are as follows:

  1. Location:

Elbow Joint: The elbow joint is situated in the upper part of the arm, specifically where the ulna and radius bones of the forearm and the upper arm bone of the humerus meet.

Wrist Joint: The wrist joint is located in the forearm's lower extremity, where the carpal and radius bones of the hand and forearm meet.

  1. Joint-moving bones:

Elbow Joint: The elbow joint largely consists of the humerus and ulna articulating, allowing forearm flexion and extension.

Wrist Joint: The wrist joint is where the hand's radius, ulna, and carpal bones come together. A variety of actions, such as flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, and circumduction are made easier by this.

  1. Stability and Ligaments

Elbow Joint: Strong ligaments and bone congruency make the elbow joint comparatively stable. In comparison to the wrist, it is less prone to dislocation.

Wrist Joint: Due to its increased mobility and the involvement of multiple tiny carpal bones, the wrist joint is more prone to damage and dislocation. The wrist is stabilized in large part by tendons, ligaments, and other soft structures.

  1. Function:

Elbow Joint: The elbow joint's main purpose is to permit forearm mobility, which is necessary for tasks like lifting, carrying, and reaching.

Wrist Joint: Activities requiring fine motor skills, like writing, typing, and object manipulation, depend on the wrist joint since it is essential for hand and finger movement.

A comparison between Beka Lamb and a kestrel for a knave?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

In both texts the main focus is on two individuals who face different hardships. In both texts the main character has a best friend ( who eventually dies), the difference however is noted in the time period in which each best friend affects the main character. For billy in A Kestrel For A Knave his best friend is a kestrel (Kes) even though his friend is a bird the impact it has on the character is to be noted. Due to the amount of care the bird requires billy no longer has time nor motive to participate in disruptive behaviour. The change for billy occurs while his best friend is alive. on the other hand in Beka Lamb the main character Beka begins to change as a result of her friends death. after the death of toycie it can be seen where beka becomes more focused and determined she conquers her habit of lying and she improve academically.

The main character in both texts have a problem when it comes to society accepting the. Bekas problem arises when she is unaware of her true identity, at school she is taught one way and at home she is expected to act another. Beka coming from a middle class family is looked down upon by the upper class and scorned because of her life style by the lover class. she is unaware of where she belongs in society. Billy is from the lower class, he resides on the "Estate" (irony) billy is ostracised by society because of where he is. Billy trough out the text struggles for acceptance. his life is made difficult by the friends he used to keep, his bad relationship with his brother and his mother (there is strong suggestion that she is a prostitute). these factors cause society to look down on Billy.

family also varies in the two books. in Beka Lamb, beka's familly is very supportive and close problems are resolved through the help of all the members. in contrast Billys family is estranged and there is great tension bettween billy and his older brother Jud. Billy's mother is portrayed as selfish and unreliable.

User Avatar

You have to have a drive that lightscribe software recognizes as a lightscribe drive and you must use special discs that are lightscribe discs. These discs have a very fine special coating which reacts to the laser of your writer (that's how it works).

PS - The lightscribe discs are available quite everywhere. They are not sold by the lightscribe company and I dont think lightscribe is a one of a kind software either.
