Who died after the OJ Simpson trial?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Although not as dramatic as King Tut's tomb, the Simpson murder trial seemed to be unlucky for several people. On the defense side Simpson's attorneys Johnny Cochoran and Robert Kardashian both died within a few years of the trial. For the prosecution, Mark Furman had to bury his law enforcement career after it died due to perjury in a California Superior Court proceeding. But it's hard to keep a good man down. Furman was able to redeem himself with his investigation and true crime bestseller Murder In Belhaven, a very cold murder case in Greenwich, CT from the 1970's. It resulted in renewed interest and finally some justice

for the 15 year old victim Martha Moxley.

Asked by Wiki User

The evidence against OJ Simpson was overwhelming, both DNA and other physical and circumstantial. I will list just a few for lack of space.

-victims' blood inside OJ Simpson's white Bronco in various places.

-glove with victims blood outside OJ Simpson's house on Rockingham.

-OJ Simpson's DNA at crime scene

-sock with victim's blood at OJS's residence on Rockingham

-bloody knife found buried in empty lot in Chicago next to OJS's hotel room where he flew to on the night of the murders.

-bloody footprints at crime scene found to be made by expensive Italian designer in same size OJS wears. When claimed he didn't own any of these shoes they were found after a serach warrent was obtained and a search of the house on Rockingham was conducted.

-cuts on OJS's hands, claimed he cut it on a glass.

-eluded police when he knew arrest was immenent, chase in white Bronco, had guns, --sum of money, threatened to commit suicide.

-confessed to cellmate while being held at jail after arrest.

-OJS had a history of violence against his ex-wife

Like I said, these are just a few of the many pieces of evidence that were presented at the criminal trial. As you can see, the evidence is overwhelming against Mr. Simpson.

Why was OJ Simpson murder charges acquitted in criminal court?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

That's what everybody wants to know. The physical and circumstantial evidence was overwhelming. This was a prosecutor's dream that quickly turned into a nightmare. I think a general explaination would have to be that Marcia Clark and her team for the prosecution were just 'out-lawyered'.

I believe the trial was lost with the change of venue. The trial was moved to downtown LA instead of where the crime was committed. The jury pool was very different than in Brentwood, an affluent mostly white neighborhood. Bailey may not be the best attorney but he can pick a jury.

A contributing factor was the judge, Ito. The thinking was to put an Asian judge in so neither side could scream predjudice. I felt Ito leaned heavily to the defense.

And lastly, the defense turned this trial into a color match. This crime was not about color, his or hers, it was about an abusive husband that got away with murder. Mark Furman was just a scapegoat. The possibilty that the whole investigating team would be in on a frame-up. The idea is rediculous, and it's hard to believe that 12 intelligent people could have fallen for such a cheap tactic.

Answer: It was said that they had reasonable doubt, so he was acquitted.
