No it is just a way for Broadway to find dancers
The International Performing Arts Academy has little to do with dancing and I cannot name anyone on Broadway who got a job because of this company. It's hard to say they're a scam, but their success rate in turning out successful actors and models is very low. The thing that concerns me is the stories about how the pressure the parents to immediately put a downpayment on their credit card, or write them a check without having the time to think. A reputable company would not pressure parents and children and tell them their opportunity will be gone if they don't do it now.
Pressure tactics like that mean you should walk away. My advice is, if you aren't in major city with acting and singing coaches, join the community theater, join the school chorus. Take lessons from the school's singing teacher and join the drama club. Study your craft. If you are in a city, take acting lessons from a reputable coach who gives showcases. As a model, watch your posture, learn how to walk down a runway by watching professional fashion shows online taken during NY's fashion week. Go to a modeling agency. This Performing Arts Academy just seems a bit off.
They are SAG, AEA, and AFTRA certified, they are probably the only ones around who are NOT a scam
Yes, Sundream Holidays is a scam. Wont give your refund if you cancel on time. Trips are more cost than they first tell you. Dennis
The National American Miss pageant is not a scam, though it can be costly and participants are encouraged to earn the money to pay them.
Many people are quick to label it a scam but it is a legitimate business because they state clearly that they are a training center/school and that they charge for people to use their services. They do not promise or guarantee that anyone that pays for their services will become famous or go on to get signed to an agency. If they did do that, it would be a false claim, which could then be used to label it as a scam of sorts.
No, some people think John Robert Powers is a scam. But it is not an agency that books you jobs, it is a school where you learn about modeling and acting.
