A weight-training technique that enables a trainee to lift loads which he or she could not otherwise lift. The ability to lift a weight at constant speed depends mainly on the strength of the muscle at its weakest point, commonly called the sticking point. Cheating is a slight assistance movement, such as bouncing the barbell and raising the hips during a bench press. This accelerates the bar and carries the weight beyond the sticking point.
