    To eject the contents of the stomach through the mouth: heave, throw up. Slang puke. See mouth.

1. matter expelled from the stomach by the mouth. In horses the ejection must be via the nostrils and is always a terminal event.
2. to eject stomach contents through the mouth.

  • coffee-ground v., black v. — dark granular material ejected from the stomach, produced by mixture of blood with gastric contents; it is a sign of bleeding in the upper alimentary canal. See also hematemesis.
