To clarify my question "14" means one quarter of the way...."12" means half way. I have a 94 SL2 and was worried about that gauge hitting the half way mark, but Saturn dealer assured me they 'run hot' (the gauge) and this is normal. I now have a bad CTS and it's only hitting the 1/4 mark. Seems it was not working correctly at that 1/4 mark, and the repairs fixed that in your case. If it heads into the red, you have a problem. Hope this helped.

The yellow fuel dispenser warning light indicates low fuel. The red battery indicator light indicates the charging system is malfunctioning. The red high water level indicator light indicates the cooling system is overheating.

These are the instructions out of the Honda Service Manual for 1996-2000 Civics: 1.) Make sure the ignition switch is OFF. 2.) Connect the SCS service connector to the MES connector. Do not use a jumper wire. 3.) Turn the ignition switch ON. 4.) The SRS indicator light comes on for about six second and goes off. Remove the SCS service connector from the MES connector within 4 seconds after the SRS indicator light went off. 5.) The SRS indicator light comes on again. Reconnect the SCS service connector to the MES connector within 4 seconds after the SRS indicator light comes on. 6.) The SRS indicator light goes off. Remove the SCS service connector from the MES connector within 4 seconds. 7.) The SRS indicator light indicates that the memory is erased by blinking two times. 8.) Turn the ignition swith OFF, and wait for ten seconds. Ok first you're asking what the SCS service connector is. Basically it's a jumper wire. It just has a connector so you can easily connect and disconnect it. You can in fact you a jumper wire. It just might make it a little more difficult. Now you want to know where there MES connector is. It's a yellow 2 wire connector located underneath the dashboard near the fuse panel.
only 2 things can cause this. The most likely is that it is overheating... a lot the least likely is that the indicator is faulty or the wrong type.
