Why is the turn signals and hazard lights not working on your 2000 Maxima?
I am answering my question to help others. The flasher unit was not working. It is located at the driver's left knee. This is to the right of the fuse box next to the blue relay. You have to remove the bottom panel to get to it. There are two Philip screws, you have to pull it down and out of its snaps. I plugged in the new relay and everything is working now.
Firstly the indicator lights started to stop working on a 1996 Nissan Primera and now the hazard lights don't work either except once in a while so how do you find the fix?
try the hazard warning light switch as if this fails the indicators will not operate then if not try the hazard light relay

Ya think it might have something to do with warning about a hazard on the roadside? lol no really! actually they are what you put on to warn other drivers that YOU are a hazard on the roadside due to an accident or breakdown or stationary queueing traffic or any other danger, ie a hazard. In the UK, hazard lights should be used on single carriageway roads to warn other drivers that your vehicle is a hazard, on a dual carriageway or motorway, they should be used to warn other drivers of any hazard.

If your hazard lights don't work but your turn signals do work it could be that your Hazard Lamp Flasher needs to be replaced. Your car has both a "hazard lamp flasher" and a "turn signal lamp flasher". Your "turn signal lamp flasher" is working but your "Hazard Lamp Flasher" may not be working. Buy a new "hazard lamp flasher" and install it. The hazard lamp flasher is located behind the instrument panel to the left of the steering column.

Two different switches. The combination switch on the column is most likely the culprit. This may be fuses. The turn signals and hazard lights are fed by separate circuits.
