Check your idle control valve on top of intake it has a small elect motor with a wire connected all fords build up carbon even have throttle sticking or hard to push slightly tap with screwdriver end while eng running then shift gears if this helps its temporary needs a 2 step fuel injection service where intake is flush out carbon and also cleans your 100k spark plugs i recomd this every 15k miles however im not a certified mechanic all though i play one on tv.lol
Sounds like a torque converter lock up solenoid.
If your Volvo is an automatic transmission try changing the fuel filter.
Sounds like you might have a torque converter problem. It could also just be that you need a new transmission. Does it shutter when you back up? What do you mean when you say that it stumbles?
The year and engine info would help.
You have to unplug the electronic speedometer sensor located on the top rear of the transmission. It can be reached from above but its easiest to find with a lift. I have a 1990 cavalier and it has the same issue. I think its a problem with the sensor module that the speedo reader plugs into.
try the converter lock out sensor in the transmission
It is a safety feature. You must pull in the left brake lever fully to engage reverse, if you try to put it into reverse without doing so, the engine will kill.
When the car stalls out, depending on speeds, you can strip part of your transmission. (Basically break the tranny). Most stalls are stripping and what not when it comes to stalling, also I'm pretty sure you can short out some of the systems inside the vehicle.
If it's an automatic, you may have a sticking solenoid INSIDE the transmission.
Put shifter in park or neutral.
I have same problem.
because your car has some problems i think you should buy another one :)
