Battery is completely discharged or is defective. loose alternator wiring or bad alternator.
Before removing the alternator and bracket assembly from the engine, loosen the assembly bolt by which the alternator is fixed at the alternator bracket. There is only a small amount of room in which to take out the alternator so you will have to work very carefully with it to prevent damaging nearby components. NOTE: If this is a SOHC engine then remove the alternator through the transaxle side, through the bottom of the intake manifold plenum.
It transfers power from the alternator to the crankshaft and the camshaft to make your engine work.
The easyest way is to go with a 1 wire alternator (self exciting). Find or make brackets that will work, mount the alternator and run 1 wire from the alternator to the battery.
An alternator does not need a gauge to work. It is used to monitor the output of the alternator.
Any belt in a car assists in moving all parts within the engine to work in providing power and cooling to vehicle. The alternator provides power to the battery and the fan cools the radiator so the engine will not overheat.
Yes, as long as they have the same engine
Ford manual calls for approximately 5 hrs of work and having to drop the front axle. There is an easier way! Remove alternator from brackets and work it accros the back side of the engine to the other side of the engine (opposite from were it is mounted at the other end of the engine compartment) until you find an opening large enough for the alternator to fit through. Once removed you can now install the new alternator working in reverse order. Time to complete approx. 45 min. GOOD LUCK. SPARKY.
Yes you can but its loads of work and will cost you a bomb. They 1.25 engine that you have is a Zetec engine and the ST is a Duratec. You will need to make new engine mounts and take everything from the ST over to you 1.25 including the ECU. To be honest it be a hell of a lot cheaper buying a ST and be cheaper on the insurince as the ST is standered and it would be classed as a highly modified car on you 1.25
either a fuse for dash or the light switch
go have your alternator tested. when they start to go out the alternator will create alot of drag on the engine but then work fine and the engine wont have the drag but the alternator wont put out the correct amount of amperage and the votage will drop increasingly
2JZ-GE Engine # Disconnect the negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 seconds before performing any other work. # Remove the engine undercover. # Turn the drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove the drive belt from the engine. # Disconnect the generator electrical connector. # Remove the rubber cap and nut and then disconnect the alternator wire. # Disconnect the alternator wire clamp from the wire clip on the alternator. # Disconnect the A/T coolant hoses and bracket from the alternator by removing the bolt and pipe clamp. # Remove the alternator bolt, nut, pipe bracket and then remove the alternator from the engine. To install: # Install the alternator and pipe bracket. Torque the bolt and nut to 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm). # Install the A/T oil cooler pipes to the alternator and install the bolt and pipe clamp. # Connect the alternator wire clamp to the wire clip on the alternator. # Connect the electrical wire to the alternator and install the nut. # Install the alternator electrical connector. # Install the drive belt. # Install the lower engine cover. # Connect the negative battery cable. # Start the engine and check the charging system for proper operation
