Though some people think Omega 3's are vitamins, they are actually fat. Fat has about 2 1/2 times more calories than other food nutrients however, we eat omega 3 fats in small amounts and they are usually not the cause of gaining weight.

I think it depends on the individual. I can tell you for me it did. I gained about 10 pounds in a three week period. I felt that no matter how much food I ate I didn't feel satisfied. I quickly realized that this could be the cause and stopped taking fish oil. My appetite decreased to where it was before and I soon lost the weight gained.

NO, not really

Fish oil supplements do have calories- usually 10-25 calories for one capsule-

so eating one fish oil capsule is less that a rice cake, or a quarter of an apple or 3 almonds. It's such a small amount of calories it makes no difference.

But, if you are really worried and count your calories , then just add the calories of the supplements into your calorie count.

Fish oil capsules are actually used in weight loss. They have healthy fat in them that contributes to balancing hormones which can cause weight gain.

Is beef a good source of polyunsaturated omega 3 fatty acids?

Only if it is organic grass fed beef. Most of that stuff you get from the feed lots has higher saturated fats and poor Omega3/Omega6 fatty acid ratios.

What causes unsaturated fatty acids to have a different shape than saturated fatty acids?

The double chain in the unsaturated fatty acid cause it to bent; unlike saturated fatty acid which has no double bond, is straight

What is the most common building blocks of lipids?

Fatty acids and glycerol

Distinguish between saturated fatty acids and saturated fatty acids?

There is no difference between saturated fatty acids and saturated fatty acids. If you meant saturated fatty acids and UNsaturated fatty acids, then the unsaturated ones are the ones with double (or, theoretically, triple) bonds in the carbon chain.

What are unsaturated fatty acids?

Unsaturated fatty acids are fatty acids that have double bonds in their long carbon chains.

How preventing lipid from being digested helps overweight people?

The main cause of getting overweight is eating too much food that has fat and lipid at high content. When lipid is not digested fatty acids acids and glycerol content in human body will decrease. No excess fatty acids and glycerol, therefore no fatty acid and glycerol to store in body. This helps overweight people from gaining more weight.

How does Trans Fatty Acid influence Heart Disease?

Yes, and is actually worse than the sys form of fatty acids. The only difference between sys and trans fatty acids are the angles of the molecules. In nature, only sys fatty acids are made, but through chemistry (or through over heating oils), we are able to make trans fatty acids. The problem is that your body can only recognize the sys form. So if you have sys fatty acids in your body, your body knows how to remove them, but if you have trans fatty acids in your body, your body doesn't know how to remove them. As a result the trans fatty acids build up in your system and can cause heart disease. Sys fatty acids can cause heart disease also, but since your body is constantly removing them, it forms slower than the trans form.

What are components of fats?

What are the monomers of triglyceride?

1 glycerol and 3 fatty acids so the monomers basically are glycerol and fatty acids
