Though not a pro, My understanding is that you are thinking in the wrong direction. I've had pro's recommend putting quality ATF in manual transmissions, due to the detergents contained in the makeup of ATF and the comparable durability of ATF. I have NEVER heard the opposite, substituting conventional oils for ATF. Call a tranny shop to confirm. If they won't direct you on best practices, then you know where NOT to take your vehicle for any future trans issues... Another note: REDLINE products rock! ALL of their synthetic fluids are head and shoulders above the rest. Race-ready and engineered.
Good Luck

I did have an 83 Chevy cavalier that had a dipstick for the tranny and it took 5w30 motor oil, but when putting fluid in check with autozone and put what is suppose to be in it in what ever your working on. Their is a lot of different types of atf out there, and your not suppose to mix any of them together, so ASK AUTOZONE OR A PRO about the RIGHT fluid for what your working on.
On a manual transmission it takes 10w30 motor oil I know it sounds strange but that's what it is. The above answer is correct for the manual transmission and I would recommend you use Synthetic SAE 10w30 oil. But, use only genuine Honda ATF-Z1 automatic transmission fluid in your Accord with A/T. Do not use any substitute or universal fluid or you will experience shifting problems.
you have to take of the tranny of the motor
10w30 Weight any premium brand. I use Pennzoil and highly recommend it.
Are you planning to convert your Accord to RWD? The S2000 has a longitudinal motor. The Accord has a transverse motor. It would not be easy.
how do i remove the fan/blower motor on a 2001 Honda Accord LX?

i also have a 1987 Honda accord lxi 5spd. It takes regular 10w-30 motor and it takes about 2 quarts

The dealer says to use only 10W30 motor oil I'm surprised a dealer would say that; even though it's a good answer. Honda MTL, which is their Manual Transmission Lubricant, is sold at Honda dealers and is recommended by the Honda literature. I recommend Mobil 1, same weight as you've got in the engine. Usually 5W30 or 10W30.
The motor in a 1991 Accord is interchangeable with the engine in a 1992 Accord. They are only slightly different but will still interchange with no problems.
The starter on the Honda Accord is located in the front of the vehicle. The Honda's motor sits sideways inside the engine compartment. The starter is between the front of the car and the motor.
You Can perform an engine swap to a h22a manual or a b16 manual. You will get more power with the h22a but the motor cost money.
