Buddhism is a religion and Confucianism is a philosophy. A religion talks about death after life and gods. Philosophy talks about what one should do in life.

Actually, BOTH Buddhism & Confucianism can either be religions or philosophies. The main differences between them is that Buddhism has numerous deities, whereas Confucianism only has One God. That being said, Confucian belief in God is more on par with that of the way in which a Deist would believe in Him, rather than that of a Christian or a Sikh would.
Another major difference is that while both religions are predominant in China(& in Asia in general), Confucius was from China, whereas Buddhism was imported into the country.
Hinduism is a classified as a religion, but to their way of thinking, as it transcends the narrow creeds of Semitic religions, it is more a way of life. It arose from the mingling of the Aryan peoples (origins in modern day Iran, Afghanistan, Northern India) and the highly advanced civilization of the Indus River Valley. Its scriptures are a combination of ritual and friendliness toward nature (Aryans) and transcendent wisdom literature (Upanishads/Indus River Valley)- known as the Vedas. It ranges in practice from devotional love to a personalized aspect of godhead, to the ultimate realization of Self as the transcendent, impersonal fullness of all godhead, Brahman. Confucianism is Chinese and to date has influenced much of East Asia. The basic teachings of Confucianism stress the importance of education for moral development of the individual so that the state can be governed by moral virtue rather than by the use of coercive laws. It is an ethical and philosophical system arising from China- and at best, it is quasi religious. Ultimately, it is a very sociologically based view that passes as state religion. In a sentence, the difference between Hinduism and Confucianism is that the former is the product of spiritually minded thought and experience, whereas the latter is more of a system for the proper and effective governance of people and countries. Albeit there is a spiritual principle, Tien - or the Mandate of Heaven - pervading Confucianism; which is like Hinduism in that it is sometimes seen as personal and impersonal. A possible contemporary of Confucious, Lao Tze, is a more spiritually minded Chinese answer to the ritualistic and elevated social mores of Confucianism.

Legalism is a Chinese philosophy that emphasizes strict adherence to laws and regulations, often using harsh punishments to enforce order and control. Confucianism, on the other hand, focuses on ethical behavior, moral development, and the cultivation of virtues such as benevolence, filial piety, and propriety. While Legalism prioritizes the role of the state in maintaining social order, Confucianism emphasizes personal and societal harmony through virtuous conduct and relationships.
