I have a 99 Jeep Wrangler Sport. My wipers would somtimes work, other times not. Now they don't work at all. Checked the fuse and replaced the switch with a brand new one, still nothing. My guess, if you have the same problem, is that the wiper motor has burned out.
In a 1997 Jeep Wrangler, the relay switch for the heater blower and motor is located behind the dash. It will be directly behind the HVAC knobs behind the dashboard.
first you need to diagnose the problem. turn on the ignition and press the appropriate switch. while pressing the switch slowly both up and down notice whether the dome light dims. if it dims then the switch is working and the problem is probably the motor as it is drawing power and not working.
Replace fan switch.
Replace the blower motor resistor.
Well, I have an 89 jeep wrangler with a really bad oil leak, and I just found it, it's the oil pressure switch. I can see the oil leaking with the motor running. I called my favorite mechanic and he said definitely, that's the problem. I'm off to replace it now.
Either your switch is messed up, or more likely the blower motor resistor is bad.
Dead short in either wiring or wiper motor Disconnect wiring harness to motor and install fuse--if it continue to "blow" problem in wiring to motor -- if it doesn't problem in motor
Had this same problem with my 97 wrangler. The motor had expired. Fuse held up but motor was bound up. It must have burnt a wire in the motor rather than a fuse. Hope this helps. Robb
You are going to have 2 things to repair with this problem. The window switch and the window motor. The weak motor has melted the inside of the switch. Yep...been there, done that.Replacing the motor wont fix the switch and if you replace the switch the weak motor will melt the new switch.
how to change the windshield wiper motor in a 2000 jeep wrangler
Being that all the speeds do not work I would check the switch in the dash. I wouldn't be surprised if you found the connection on the back of the switch melted. The blower motor speed resister could be bad but generally when the resister goes bad you still have the high speed function.
Check ground circuit I believe that it is a "ground" switched circuit
