Well, Asians are obviously from Asia, in the east, while native Americans live around the United States area. Native Americans practice a different religion than Asians. Asian religion can vary from Christian, to Hinduism, to Pentecostal to Chinese religions to Pakistani religions, and so on.

Another answer:

If you are meaning the religions that began in those areas, the biggest differences are the gods or spirits, the methods and traditions, and the names thereof. Liek all religions many of the fundamental aspects are the same. In native American and most Asian religions, they are polytheistic(multiple gods), and most are respectful of the Earth. But in Shinto, Taoism, Buddhism, and Sikhism, there is more of a focus on self improvement and reflection, than in Tribal religions the focus is more often community and elders. This is from my limited knowledge of Native American religions, which are numerous and varied.

I am a Native American Indian from the Tewa Tribe Nambé Pueblo, which is located in northern New Mexico. I am the former Governor of my Tribe and was much honored to serve my community in this position. I will provide my answer, though I do not represent all Native Americans. No matter what your race is, people are people and we share many common beliefs. Many of us belief in a higher power and some call that higher power God, Great Spirit, Grandfather Spirit, etc. We all share the common belief of honesty, love for our family, our children and friends. Some of the differences include individual recognition. Many Native Americans prefer not to be overwhelmed with individual recognition, where as, many Americans from mainstream society like fame and notoriety. Many Native Americans would prefer to see that the community as a whole is advanced, whereas, the American dream is often focused on the advances of an individual person. Much has changed all around our world and sometimes you don't always see what are considered "old fashion" or "traditional" values or beliefs being perpetuated by today's young people, which is of great concern to the elders in our communities. You can learn more about Native American youth and how they represent their traditional lives and how they also participate in a contemporary world by going to http://www.whenyourhandsaretied.org/. You can get a free copy of this video by writing to boccellaproductions@Yahoo.com Synopsis When Your Hands Are Tied Approximate running time: 56 minutes Format: Digital Video "When Your Hands Are Tied" is an educational film that explores the unique ways in which young native people are finding to express themselves in the contemporary world while maintaining strong traditional lives. Since native youth do not often see reflections of themselves or their communities in mainstream media, we wanted to make a film that features contemporary native kids and role models who are finding exciting and positive ways to direct their lives. We also wanted young people to learn the importance of self-motivation in combination with traditional teachings to help prepare for the challenges of everyday life. Some of the people we meet are: Navajo rappers, who rap in English and in Navajo, with a mission to communicate to young people the importance of embracing mainstream culture and education as well as their own native languages, customs and traditions. Navajo punk rock musicians, whose style is Native American Punk-Rock or "Alter Native" with strong sociopolitical messages about government oppression, relocation of indigenous people, eco-cide, genocide, domestic violence and human rights. Apache Skate Boarders, who through their travels across the country, have learned about filmmaking, Photography, and self worth. They have also learned how to carry the message of who they are and where they come from as they pursue their own individual goals. The (former) Governor of Nambé Pueblo, an avid dancer started a break-dance team to help kids stay active and healthy. The break-dancers come from many tribes around the southwest and are encouraged to participate in their traditional dances at home.

It's polytheistic, they worship many gods, as opposed to the Judeo-Christian religions which worship one god. It also involves gods manifesting themselves as entities in nature which is isn't present in most mainstream religions.

From a cultural stand point, not much is different. And don't forget no two tribes have the very same culture or language. in both America and Africa.

What are the difference between mainstream religions and cults?

Great question. Here is the definition of "cult" from the Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary--1: formal religious veneration : worship2:a system of religious beliefs and ritual ; also : its body of adherents3: a religion regarded as unorthodox or spurious ; also : its body of adherentsSo any religion can be considered a cult but in popular usage, "cult" has definition #3 above. Then it gets very subjective. For example, Christianity is the largest religion in the world but when it started, the religious establishment considered it "unorthodox or spurious". Debates rage over whether certain religions such as the Scientologists or the Mormons are a "cult" or a "mainstream religion". Some religions would consider any religion that is not itself a "cult".So there is no "official" division between "cult" and "mainstream religion"--this is an entirely subjective opinion.Certain "mainstream religions" are in my own personal opinion quite spurious or false, but are not considered "cults".
