If you do not see a transmission dip stick then it is a sealed system and no service is necessary. Your owner's manual will show the location of the dip stick. If it doesn't show it, then it doesn't have one.
There should still be a red cap on a tube where the dip stick would be that would be where you add it. But you have to take out a screw on the side of the tranny and if fluid comes out then your good if not leave screw out and poor in tube till it starts to come out of the screw area.
GM eliminated dipsticks for automatics. You can only drain, and refill. There will be a little red/yellow cap near the top of the transmission by the firewall, where the dipstick used to be.
sealed system or not
There is no dipstick for the transmission. It has a check valve on the side of the pan.

It doesn't have one but they can check the transmission fluid at any place that does oil changes
Most newer automatic transmissions do not use a dipstick.
probably does not have one. Look down at the drivers side top of the transmission and you will see a plastic cap that is used to refill the transmission. To check it needs to be on a lift running and a bolt on the side of the transmission is removed to check the fluid level. I agree not a great plan. Not something you want to try at home take to a service place and have it checked. Not worth dropping a running car on your body.
The transmission fluid on a 96 Pontiac Grand Am SE is put into the filler tube on the left side of the engine. It runs directly into the top of the transmission and also contains a dipstick to check fluid levels.

wheres the transmission dipstick on a 2000 grand am
Check on the bottom side of the transmission for a plug that may have came unplugged. It will make it shift really hard if it is unplugged.
