You can try cleaning it with carb cleaner by removing it and spraying carb cleaner into the port with the valve stem showing. That said, you may be better off replacing it as it is hard to properly clean it. There are some simply instructions for replacing it at Autoclinix.com.
The IAC is located on the throttle body. Simply unplug the dirty IAC and clean or replace the IAC.

The Haynes Manual (copyrighted) gives no instructions for the cleaning of the IAC, only its replacement if defective.
To clean the iac valve, you must remove your air intake induction pipes. Second if needed you may have to remove the hoses running from the radiator so that you have full view and access to your throttle body. Open you butterfly throttle and spray throttle body cleaner on a rag and wipe until clean. then locate your iac valve. once you have remove it and use the same throttle body cleaner to wipe the carbon and smut off of the point. Then clean the housing in which it goes back into. Be sure to carefully insert your iac valve and tighten as needed. Once you have done that if the iac valve is working then it will be fine for a period of time. If your car still has trouble idling then you may have to replace it. Replacing the iac valve allows the correct amount of air and fuel in to start the engine and keep it idling correctly.

* Disconnect the electrical connector from the IAC valve * Remove the two IAC valve attaching screws and withdraw the valve from the IAC housing * Clean the sealing surface and the bore of the IAC housing with a shop rag or soft cloth to ensure a good seal * Postion a new O-ring on the housing.Lubricate the O-ring with a light film of the engine oil * Install the IAC valve and tighten the screws securely * The remainder of the installation is the reverse of removal
The Trailblazer has an electronic throttle (drive by wire). There is no IAC valve, it is built into the throttle body. Remove and clean the entire throttle body.
