Remove the lower rad hose and drain, the block itself has no supplied drain. You can also use the drain petcock on the radiator lower drivers side but it is prone to leaking after use.
That is the fuel filter on the driver side of the engine block.
A 1989 5.9L Cummins does not have a cam sensor.
right where the coolant hose enters the engine block
In place of the coolant drain plug on either side of the block.
What do you wish to do, drain the coolant or remove trapped air from the system? To drain coolant, there usually is a drain valve located at the base of one of the radiator tanks, there is one tank on each side of the radiator. If it is not there or broken, just remove the lower radiator hose, ENGINE COLD ONLY.
possibly a blown head gasket
1989 was the first year of the Cummins.
The 2002 Accord has two plugs and both are on the back above the oil filter. Once is a 17mm or 19mm and the other is an 8mm hex. I was not able to break mine loose at 30K or 120K, only 60K and 90K miles. I gave up and asked the dealer that my dealer said not to worry about it that they only drain the radiator if the coolant looks good. Its when the coolant is bad that you need to drain the other gallon. They said just to drain the raidiator and lower hose and fill with HG pre-mix. It cost about $25/Gal.
