Stop leak products can temporarily seal small leaks in a water pump, but they are not a permanent solution. These additives work by forming a seal within the leak, but they may not address underlying issues or larger leaks effectively. It's best to use stop leak as a short-term fix and consider replacing or repairing the water pump for a long-term solution. Always consult a professional for the best course of action.
A leaking water pump means the pump needs replacing or the gasket is leaking. Either way the pump must be removed. Now if the hoses going to the pump are leaking, they either need tightening or replacing. So it depends on exactly where the leak is.
can you fix a leaking car water pump Yes you can fix it..If the water pump gasket is leaking then remove the pump and replace the gasket,if the pump itself is leaking from either a crack in the housing or from around the pumps shaft then remove and replace the pump with a new one... Fixing the pump itself is not something that is easly done by the average person....if the leak is from a crack in the water pumps housing then each end of the crack must be drilled to stop it from progressing any farther, then the entire crack must be welded, soildered, brazed ect depending on what type of metal the pump is made from... If the pump is leaking from around the shaft then the impeller and shaft must be removed and the bushings, bearings and seals replaced..this requires the use of a bearing press...
Not recommended. The water pump runs off of the timing belt, if the belt fails the valves can bend.
