Replace any broken parts or adjust latch assembly
My 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan had a problem. The driver side power sliding side door stopped opening on its own. It would make all the right sounds and then unlatch the door, but not far enough so the door would open up and move back on its own. I put together a web page with a video of my problem and my repair. I ended up putting a new latch motor assembly in the door. You can definitely do it yourself and save a bunch of money. Visit my website. I have a walkthrough of the procedure. http://www.redhouseon7th.com/howto/2001CaravanDoorRepair/index.HTML I didn't have a problem with the controls, just the latch itself. Hope this is the right answer for you. -Mike
I have the same problem with my truck. What happens is the bottom door latch gets rusty and worn out and doesn't like to release. There are three torx bit screws on the bottom of the latch. Replace it and you should be good to go!

It is posted on a sticker under the hood on the top of the radiator saddle area usually to the left of the latch if you are facing the engine.
How to repair the rear door latches on my e 350 van. The bottom latch will not hold . How do I get the latch to hold Thanks

I had this problem on a Chevy; the cable was broken and had to be replaced. Before I replaced it, I was able to crawl under the car and, using a screwdriver against the cable (near the hood latch), pushing against the cable with the screwdriver, the latch released.
i removed the latch assembly from the console lid then gently removed the latch itself from the assembly, then with some wire and paper clips joined the pieces of the latch together. then i purchased some clear potting/encapsulating compound from the local electronics store, made up a rig from a coat hanger and immersed the broken end of the latch into the compound (time spent making the support rig is well spent). after the compound set with a little time and a hobby die grinder i carved the latch to almost its original shape reassembled it and it works fine... good luck...
Apparantly Someone Shut the trunk Lid Too Hard And Broke the Auto Latch Assembly . They are Very easy to Break You Can Either repair it yourself Or take it to A dealer .Either way after repair you shut the lid with little or no pressure ....DONT SHUT THE LID FAST OR HARD.....
what is wrong with the door latch? will it not open/latch? what year is the vehicle? all of these are needed to answer your question.
It's part of the latch assembly, when the hood is open you can see it.
