It depends on what you are using it for. Basically, you set the three jaws for an inward or outward pull, then tighten the center screw. It then pulls 'whatever' off. Last time I used one was to pull a brake drum off. Only recommended if the drum is really rust frozen on and you are going to replace it anyway. Three jaw pullers shouldn't be used for Power Steering pulleys or vibration dampers, as they will ruin the pulley/damper.

A three jaw puller is the proper tool. I have removed over 100 that way.
You need a special harmonic damper puller. It's a variant of a basic 3-jaw puller that it made stronger so that it wont break.

No there not press on. They are Flowting Rotors. You will need a 3 jaw gear puller to be able to remove them easy.
That balancer requires a 3-jaw puller to pull it off, just be sure you have the claws on straight, and if it gets too tight to turn the end of the puller, tap on the end with a hammer, then turn some more.
A small two-jaw or three-jaw gear puller works fine.
