Go to a parts supply outlet and get a flush T or a hose connector to join the hoses together once you've disconnected them from the core
Disconnect both heater hoses from heater core and connect them together
Best to get the shop manual but basically: Reomove Heater hoses from engine block and drain. Remove glove box. Disconnect cables that connect to heater core. Disconnect heater core from firewall. Disconnect hoses from heater core. Pull heater core from under dash.
Drain off a few qts of coolant from the radiator, disconnect both heater hoses from the engine, fabricate a fitting to adapt a garden hose to either one of the heater hoses, direct the remaining hose into a container, gently turn on and slowly increase the water to the garden hose and flush out the crud from the heater core, reverse the hoses and flush again, disconnect the garden hose, reconnect the heater hoses to the engine, refill radiator and run engine until hot, top off coolant reservoir, done.

The heater core may be plugged. Flushing it may help. Disconnect both heater hoses from the engine, fabricate a fitting to attach a garden hose to one of the hoses, direct the other hose into a pail, gently turn on water and flush it until it runs clear then swap hoses and reverse flush until clear. Reattach hoses to engine and refill reservoir.

Disconnect heater core inlet and outlet hoses - couple them together
Disconnect both heater hoses from the heater core or the engine, whichever is easier. Fabricate fittings to attach a garden hose to one of the heater connections. I direct the other heater connection into a bucket. Turn on the garden hose gradually until all the way open. Flush for 30 seconds. Reverse heater connections and back flush another 30 seconds. Reinstall heater hoses, top off radiator coolant reservoir. Done.

Loosen the clamps and carefully twist the hose where it connects to the heater core. If you are wanting to bypass the heater core, just run one of the hoses between the two places on the motor where they connect or put a short piece of pipe between the two hoses.
With the vehicle warmed up and running feel both heater hoses with your hands. If one is hot and the other is luke warm or cold, the heater core needs to be flushed by itself. Flushing the whole system doesn't unclog the heater core. Disconnect both heater hoses from the engine, fabricate a fitting to attach a garden hose to one of the hoses. Direct the other hose into a container and gently turn on the water until the water runs clear, then reverse hoses and run again until clear. Reattach hoses to engine and refill reservoir.
