• His full name is Barack Hussein Obama, II, named for his father, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. The names Obama and Hussein are family names and are common in that part of Africa from where his father comes.
• Barack Obama has a wife named Michelle. She was born on January 17, 1964. They married on October 18, 1992.

• He has two young daughters the oldest one, Malia Ann, was born July 4, 1998 and was 9 when he was made President. Natasha "Sasha", who is the youngest, was born June 10,2001 and was 6 years old when her father became POTUS (President of the United States).
• His late father, Barack Obama, Sr., was African, and was raised in a small village in Kenya. He was the first African student at the Univ. of Hawaii. His parents met in a Russian class at the University. They divorced after three years of marriage and Barack was mainly raised by his mother.
• His late mother, Stanley Ann Dunham was named after her father Stanley Dunham, but went by the name Ann. She grew up in Kansas and attended college in Hawaii where she met Barack Obama's father, a foreign exchange student. She earned a PhD in anthropology at the University of Hawaii.

It depends on which facts you are asking about. He was born on August 4, 1961 in Hawaii. His mom was white, and originally from Kansas; his dad was black and originally from Africa (the country of Kenya). His parents were divorced when he was just a little kid. His mom re-married and when he was five, they moved to Indonesia, where he lived till 5th grade. At that time, he moved back to the US to live with his maternal grandparents and finish his education. He graduated high school in Honolulu in 1979.

Mr. Obama graduated college (Columbia) in 1983 with a degree in Political Science. He worked for five years and then attended law school (Harvard), graduating with academic honors in 1991. He married Michelle (Robinson) in 1992, and he and his wife have two daughters. He ran for political office for the first time in 1996, winning a seat in the Illinois State Senate. After three terms, he was elected to the US senate in 2004, and then to the presidency in 2008. Barack Obama is the first black president in US history. And he was re-elected in 2012. He is the author of two best-selling non-fiction books, and also won a Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.
