The easys way i found out is to take the motor out first
disconnect the ball joints, engine cradle bolts, remove the cradle to transmission mounts, drop down the cradle, then remove the driveshafts, tranny cooler lines, unbolt the torque converter, remove the transmission Take off the flex plate(flywheel) and then you can pry out the old rear main seal Put everything back together the way it came out OR Take it to a qualified mechanic shop and pay about $1000 to have them do it
take driveshaft out, take starter out, remove tranny inspection cover, unbolt torque converter from flywheel, take shifter linkage off the tranny, remove all the bolts holding tranny to the engine, take tranny coolant lines off the tranny, now your ready to drop the tranny out.
remove front and rear drive shafts. remove transfer case. remove tranny lines at trans. unbolt and remove torque converter from flex plate. drop exhaust. remove dip stick tube. un-bolt tranny and move tranny slightly backwards to gat past locating pins. remove tranny, (not a single person job).
Support the engine using a chain with a support beam across the two fenders(there is a special tool designed just for this). The engine will remain in the vehicle, but when the tranny is removed there will be no other support for the engine than this support beam, and it will be hanging over your head, so it has got to be right. Raise the vehicle in the air and remove the engine/transmission support cradle. Support the tranny on a tranny jack, and remove all necessary stuff like starter, wire connectors, flywheel nuts, cooler lines, bellhousing bolts, and remove the unit out the bottom.

In the tranny. You have to remove the tranny pan to get to it. Hope this helps.
You remove the axle nuts and a ball joint to remove the CV axles. Then you remove the shifter linkage. Remove the starter and all the other stuff that's hooked to the tranny. Then you place a jack under the engine. Remove all the bolts holding the tranny and the engine together. Now unhook a couple motor mounts, raise the car up, drop the engine down and slide the tranny out. You do not have to remove the motor to take the engine out. You simply need to take all the bolts out of the tranny that are going into the motor and then remove it from the motor with the motor in the car.
yes it is

how to split the tranny from the engine
Take out the driveshaft, pull shifter cables off the tranny and unbolt the tranny from the engine , take tranny fluid lines off the tranny and have floor jack under the tranny, take the inspection plate off and take the bolts out of the torque converter that holds it to the flywheel and it's out.
