Half of Germany came under the communist rule of the USSR. It became known as East Germany. There were other countries that were trapped under USSR's rule too. I think they were Poland, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia (at first, they became their own communist country),
Romania, Serbia, Bosnia, Estonia, Lithuania, and a couple other countries I can remember (or spell either). In 1990s they were finally released from the USSR control and became their own republics and democracies. Italy was able to depose their dictator and gain freedom too.
Colonies in Asia and Africa gained their independence following World War II. In 1915, Mahatma Gandhi led a nonviolent revolution in India against British rule. Indonesia gained its independence in 1945 and the Philippines in 1946. Eventually, African nations were also granted their independence.

Answer this question… It allowed for much less individual freedom.
There was another world war after the first because powers arose in the intervening years that spanned the globe and alligned themselves together to take over other countries. Germany Italy and Japan started invading other countries and killing their citiziens and shipping off people and goods to their own countries. These invaded countries of course resisted and their allies helped them. This led to the world war. Japan invaded China, the Philippines, Australia, and other countries bordered on the Pacific. They also attacked the United States. Big Mistake. Germany invaded Poland, France, Russia, Finland, etc, most of Europe ! World War 2 is called "The Good War" because it was so clear who was in the right and who was not. Which is not the case in most wars.
