Why cut in voltage of silicon is more than that of germanium?

the valence band energy is different in the two substances,so the cut in voltage is different.

Why is the reverse saturation current of germanium diode more than silicon?

Germanium has four number of shells while Silicon has three number of shell. therefore for germanium less energy is required to move the electron from valence band to conduction band if compared to silicon. So at room temperature for germanium their are more number of electrons present in conduction bond hence more number of holes present in the valence energy band. Due to movement of holes reverse saturation current is produced. Their is more number of hole movement in germanium comparatively therefore reverse saturation current is more than silicon for germanium. Why is germanium chemically similar to silicon?

I'm no expert, but both germanium and silicon are located in the same group on the periodic table. Elements in the same group are chemically similar because they contain the same number of valence electrons.

What is the energy level for germanium?

The energy level for germanium is 4. You know its 4 because of the period its in for example: beryllium is in row 2 period 2 so the energy level is 2.

When a potential is applied to pure germanium in what direction do the electrons and holes move?

in pure germanium there are effectively noconduction band electrons or holes, so they don't move at all.

Why the breakdown voltage of silicon is 0.7V whereas for germanium it is 0.3V?

because germanium has lower energy gap between conduction and valence bands

What is ionic band?

its a silicone band infused with germanium and tourmaline and these two elements give off negative ions which increase your balance, energy, strength, endurance and flexibility. It has worked greatly for me so far.
