It depends on what you are going to use it for.

If you are looking for a portable gaming/multimedia/internet station sort of thing with emphasis on gaming, I would go with a laptop. Computer games generally have more depth to them as well as better graphics. The drawbacks to laptops are that you can't make calls or text with them, unless you get special software for that. Also, if you want to get an internet connection somewhere that there is no WiFi, then you would have to get an AirCard, or some other carrier's equivalent.

On the other hand, if you are always on the go and don't want to go to all the trouble of carrying around a laptop, and are going to make phone calls and text messages, then iPhone would be the way to go.

It is sort of hard for somebody who doesn't know you or what you are going to use it for to decide which is best for you.

Well they are both very good things but i would say a laptop, why because a ipad is nothing but a computer but 15% better but it is also missing a few features.

like

1. FlashA good deal of people is going to mourn about absence of flash from iPad and the lack of backing up support for Adobe Software. There was no official mention about non-existence of flash in iPad but it did not escape the minds of the hawk-eyed audience. There are no chances of it being added in the near future until and unless Apple decides to reduce the battery life to the state of vagueness 2. OLEDGossip had it that there would be two versions of iPad, one would with the OLED screen and one deprived of it. Since the cost of OLED screen is sky-rocketing for this kind of size, they chose to exclude it entirely from the package. OLED screen maybe vibrant but it uses much more power than an LED backlit screen. In similar fashion, it is a little too soft when contrasted against LED backlit screen. It has an e-reader which cannot be utilized outdoor, so this does not appear to be a good decision from Apple. 3. USBiPad was initially meant to be a user friendly gadget not a computer that can perform all tasks of a computer much better than the computer itself. Installing USB would be synonymous with installing drivers for printers, scanners and other hardware which we might link it to. Apple has already made known a camera connection kit and a pair of adapters which will give you the permission to plug the camera in direct or plug an SD cards to pull of the pictures. So definitely this is not a plus point for the professionals as the camera is meant to be used by non-professional persons. One should reckon that such accessories going to be introduced on a higher level and they might as well be combined with software's to give it that oomph factor. 4. GPSA compass comes with every package of iPad so we thought maybe GPS is an added feature in that package but we were wrong. An unexpected feature is that 3G iPad comes with accommodated GPS. Such GPS can mostly offload some task to internet servers and use cell-tower triangulation. The dissimilarity being that some AGPS units have actual GPS and some lack it. We'll know more about this once we get our hands on iPad. 5. Multi-taskingThe blessing of the multitasking in iphone is entirely absent from iPad. Applications cannot be run in the background which is not good news for the wired readers. However, this will be of great significance to media consumers. 6. KeyboardNo one imagined even in their wildest dreams that iPad would come with a bodily keyboard. But this can do nothing to stop people from complaining. The only contrast between an iPad and MacBook is that one is an all-purpose device and one is just a simple, plain media player. This optional keyboard is a virtue for people who cannot afford notebooks. Since it's not that expensive and is also user-friendly. 7. CameraExclusion of still camera, video camera and web camera comes as a big shock for a majority of us. There is just no likelihood of using iPad as a videophone if the need arises. The only reason for this appears to be the cost-saving tactic used by Apple, no other major substantial reason. 8. VerizonUntil and unless Verizon attempts to switch to the international standard of GSM SIM card, don't assume that Apple would strike a deal or two with it. The rumors are mere rumors in this case, nothing more than that. 9. 16:9Even by the present day standards, screen is comparatively square in nature with an old-time 4:3 proportion. This might not be the best possible means of watching widescreen movies since you end up getting a black letter box top-and-bottom. iPad is intended to be utilized in the portrait mode majorly. If you really want to watch movies for the most part, reflect on buying a large TV. 10. HDMIIn simple plain words, maximum audience that van view an iPad screening is 2. If you want more than this, why not use your laptop or your desktop machine for the purpose of hooking it up to projector? There are only two kinds of people who will buy iPads. First ones are those who are dorks like us, who care the most about HDMI but also are in possession of a computer that can perform this task much better then iPad. The other kind is the one which is buying it as an alternative to a computer. These people will still continue to pile up their DVD collections and maybe even VCRs.

Thats why you should get a laptop also when u finally figure out all the secrets and stuff like that another "BIG THING" will come out from around the corner.

Both are good but if you want portability then go for the ipad since it is smaller than the laptop and can be easily stored away but if you want something to save more of your work then choose the laptop. Both has almost the same function.

In recent years, netbooks have become exceptionally popular. They’re basically low-powered laptops, typically very small, and they’re considered a separate category of computer from a traditional laptop. Many consumers wonder whether a netbook is right for them, and whether the trendy devices are worth the money.

There are a few things to consider when comparing a laptop to a netbook. The first and most obvious point is power. As netbooks rarely have enough power to run demanding programs such as Adobe Photoshop or movie editing software, they’re not a good choice for anyone that uses these high-processing applications. Of course, that’s a relatively small segment of the population. Most consumers tend to use their laptops for video viewing, music listening, word processing, email, and Internet, and a netbook will handle all of these tasks with ease. They may be a bit slower than a typical laptop, but the average computer user won’t notice a big difference.

Netbooks cost significantly less than laptops, which is why they can be a good choice for computer buyers on a budget. A netbook rarely costs more than $300-500, while laptops can easily climb into the thousands of dollars. It’s true that not all laptops are expensive, and not all netbooks are cheap, but as far as broad classes go, netbooks are quite inexpensive. Remember that you’re trading size and power for price, though.

Be sure to test various computers in-store before buying, even if you’re making your purchase online. Many computer users find the small keyboards of netbooks difficult to work with, and small screens can be very frustrating. Some netbooks have full-size keyboards, but they’ll never give the display options of a decent laptop. They usually don’t have much in the way of video processing, and they rarely have a built in CD-ROM drive, so if you’re buying a laptop to watch movies, you might want to steer clear of netbooks.

When comparing netbooks to laptops, take your time. Any computer purchase is a major purchase, but with the right considerations you can easily find a computer that works for you.

Is the better a laptop or the iPad better?

The ipad is fine fore web browsing and social networking. It can also handle word documents just fine. If you need all the usb ports and so on, you should get a laptop. I would get the ipad, because you can get all sorts of apps. But if you have an ipod touch and can use it fine, get the laptop. the ipad is a big ipod touch. your only missing out on the screen size.
