If it is on going from neutral to any forward gear, bleed the lower resovoir. On sitting for a winter of even a month on hot dry weather will cause air to leak in. If it is on fast shift to third the fluid return hose has a metering block in it to slow down shifts. This can be reamed out. After a fast first to second the second to third doesn't have enough fluid back in the upper resovour and locks you out. A good Corvette mechanic could help you here or look to the internet and somewhere the ream out is detailed. While you are at it use a turkey baster and pump out the upper and depress pedal and give it 3 mins to fill then re pump out with baster. Use STP Synthetic Power Steering fluid DOT 4 or better.
A worn out clutch release bearing would cause a whining sound when you put your foot on the clutch.
the most common reason for this would be a worn throwout bearing sizing when hot or worn fingers on clutch plate both require removal of transmission to fix
Heater core
bad clutch cable, or not enough oil on the clutch plates.
Clutch is not adjusted properly.
There is no hydraulic fluid in the transmission. However, there is hydraulic fluid in the clutch system. If the clutch fluid reservoir is empty it would cause clutch not to operate.
Slack in the clutch release or clutch basket. It might adjust out.
your clutch may not be fully engaging
A/C fan clutch is bad. A/C fan clutch is bad.

Clutch is not adjustable. I would recommend changing the brake fluid in the clutch system and bleed the air out of it. If it continues to cause problems, rebuild the clutch master cylinder. Bob
That doesn't make sense cause that would be the 31st year of the car.(corvette) They came into production in 1953. They did not make a corvette in 1983 so 1984 would be a 30th year. I've never heard of a 1984 anniversary edition tho.
