I believe it's on the front of the engine , in the area of the lower radiator hose , on the 4.0 liter SOHC - V6 engine
On the 4.0 L OHV engine ( used until the 2000 model of Ford Ranger ) the oil pressure sending unit is located on the drivers side of the engine below the power steering pump
On the 4.0 liter OHV engine , it's on the drivers side of the engine , below the power steering pump
On the 4.0 liter OHV - V6 engine it is on the drivers side of the engine below the power steering pump

I'm not a mechanic / technician but I believe the oil pressure sending unit on the Ford 4.0 liter SOHC , V6 engine is on the front of the engine . In the area where the lower radiator hose connects to the water pump
On the ( 4.0 liter V6 engine ) the oil pressure sending unit is on the drivers side of the engine below the power steering pump on a 1997 Ford Ranger ( On the 2.3 liter four cylinder and the 3.0 liter V6 I don't know where it is anybody else know ? )
