I had to change mine and it was a *****!!! It is located inside those plastic covers on the side of the engine, well most of it anyways. I would recommend getting a haynes repair manual at your local auto parts dealer. Its been a while since then but... start with the taking off the valve cover. Also the power stearing pump needs unbolted and moved out the way. Loosen the tensioner for the belts. Remover the top plastic cover. To remove the bottom plastic cover, you must take off the wheel. The crankshaft pully must be removed to remove the cover. Hmmmm... one last thing needs removed to gain full access to the water pump. I'm not sure on the name... but it guides the timing belt. Once done then you should be able to remove the water pump!!! Good luck with retiming... its been so long sry.
