The alliance system(s) caused World War 1 because they drew more countries into war. Without the alliances, we probably still would've had a world war because alliances weren't the only reason for war. There was also, militarism, Imperialism, and nationalism that helped out. :D

The alliances in the eastern part of the world assisted world war one because there were so many alliances intertwined that no one was able to tell who they're alliances were allied with. Therefor if (for example) Britain attacked Russia -who was Germany's ally- but Germany was Britain's ally as well, all chaos would break loose. Just as it did when the World War started.

^ what? that's not right!

in world war one, Germany, Italy and austria-Hungary were in one alliance, the triple alliance, and Britain, Russia and France were in another alliance, the triple entente. SO THEREFORE when the archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip, Germany agreed to aide Austria when it attacked Serbia. so RUSSIA helped Serbia, and Britain helped Russia by declaring war on Germany, and Germany declared war on France, and invaded France through the neutral country, Belgium! so actually what the previous person said didn't happen in WW1!

there were lots of alliances though, so when one country got involved in a war, its' allies would come and help, and then it would keep on happening; therefore the war became the first ever war involving countries from all over the world!

World War I was caused (partly, but significantly) by the alliance-system in a curious way. While this system was designed to prevent a large-scale conflict in Europe, it actually contributed directly to it. Once the first shots of the war had been fired in southeastern Europe, the combatants called for help from their allies. With formal alliances at stake, one ally after another (with only Italy as an exception) responded to the call until, rather surprisingly, the "local conflict" had transformed into a massive war.

A big one, because of alliances the war got so big. Because the big countries (France, Britain Russia) where allied with Serbia, they joined into protect Serbia. That's what caused the conflict to get so big.

How did alliances cause World War 1 to be so much worse that previous wars?

Simple if you think about it... Alliances mean that you attack one country and many other countries come to back it up while many more come to help you out. This turns into a series of huge and bloody battles which leads up to WWI and, after other alliances are formed, WWII. The End

How did the alliances help cause the World War I?

The alliances helped cause world war 1 because when Franz Ferdinand the Archduke of Austria-Hungary was assassinated along with his wife it caused Austria-Hungary to declare war on Serbia. This was what set off the alliances and all hell broke loose. Russia immediately jumped in to protect Serbia who they had an alliance with. Then Germany came in to protect Austria-Hungary and declared war first on Serbia but also on Russia and France. But to get to France it would need to go through Belgium and France and Britain declared war on Germany. The alliances were called the triple alliance and the triple entente. The triple alliance consisted of Germany, Austria and Italy. The triple entente included Britain, France and Russia.

Alliances (by themselves) were not the cause of conflict in the Second World War.
