Opponents of vaccinations believe that they (vaccines) have killed and harmed many people, or that they are some sort of government plot. Allergies, Asthma, retardation, autism, Down Syndrome, etc. have been attributed to vaccines, although there is little to no scientific evidence for most of these claims. Often what they also fail to consider is that the diseases themselves can cause actual harm and death and, when vaccination rates fall, these communicable diseases reappear.
There has been much Propaganda in the popular press to this effect, resulting in a large decrease in vaccination rates in many countries, including England and Nigeria. In England (and parts of the US) there have been large outbreaks of previously controlled diseases such as measles and mumps, resulting in many deaths. In parts of Africa there has been a resurgence of polio, which had nearly been eradicated through vaccine use until the numbers of vaccinations became so reduced.

∙ 12y agoBecause there are only vaccines for so many diseases. Not many diseases can be cured by vaccine. Some may react with other vaccines.
Some vaccines are painful to get and some cause temporary symptoms (fever, pain etc.) that taking them just because they are available is not worth the effort.
There is also group of folks who see vaccines against common diseases like polio, measles, etc. as plot by somebody to:
- just make money
- spread disease
- control the world
- kill off some ethnic group
and refuse to take the vaccination. In truth many medicines come with a miniscule risk of side effects, but these pale in comparison to the impact of getting the disease.

∙ 10y agoBecause vaccines contain a mild form of the disease you're being immunised against. Your body creates antibodies to fight the mild infection - and 'remembers' the 'invader' in case you get the full-blown disease. If you were vaccinated against every common disease at once - your body's immune system would be so overwhelmed, you would probably be extremely ill - or worse !
It's far safer to vaccinate against one or two diseases at a time - and allow the patients body to recover.

Because exposing your immune system to everything under the sun in one hit may be a bit too much for it to handle at once. If you want a good immune response, give vaccines over time - it's like you running three marathons at once: you're likely to perform better on them if they're not all in the one hit. Some vaccines (flu vaccines) are different each year, depending on what strains are getting around. Some vaccines are live - not dangerous, that bit's been bred out of them, but if you give these ones all together, they might ruin the chances of each of them actually having a response, because they might battle it out between each other.
